Zamora, Spain
Do not plan a trip in Castile and León. There are so many unexpected things to see and do everywhere. Take time and enjoy your discoveries along the way. This is a recurring theme on my travels to this part of northern Spain. From Roman Gold Mines to Vineyards, from Caves to Cathedrals. The region is so interesting and diverse. Every town, every church is different. It's a land soaked in history, full of diverse influences and with something for all the family. The old cities are a time warp where the ancient coexists happily with the modern. They are a joy to explore on foot.
Entrance to the Medieval Castle Zamora
My trip to Zamora was a breakfast stop on the way from León to Salamanca. I was looking for coffee but we made so many discoveries in this beautiful little town.
According to wikivoyage it's the town with the highest concentration of Romanesque art in Europe. TIL Romanesque Architecture is an architectural style of medieval Europe characterized by semi-circular arches We had breakfast here, then spent an enjoyable 2 hours walking around the small city.
