Why Tourist go after Musang King: the King of the fruit even it cost RM100 per KG at its height?

Are you one of the tourist in Malaysia that has the urge to try what is Musing King? Or a fan of durian in general?
If you are a fan of Musang King Durian, do you mind to pay RM100 per kg for a fruit even though you knew very well it is 50%-100% more expensive than other branded during spices like D24 or D101?

Tourist beware

This is a caution note If you are a foreigner that has not much exp[osure to durian especially the Musang King. Are you aware that there are those unscrupulous traders who wanted fast money to trick you into believing their durian are indeed Musang King? Know this risk of been cheated and you still want to try the fruit, make sure you go to a reputable tour guide to take you to the right place.

Although the price may be higher you can be assured the durian is genuine Musang King. Of course, if you are adventurous, you may buy this durian at durian stalls on the street which normally has a big display for such a durian for sale. Pay a little attention to the characteristics of a Musang King durian and how it is different from ordinary durian

Read the following research to understand the characteristics of a Musang King durian

The origin of Musang King Durian

As reported in the news report by Star Online, according to the Serdang Agriculture Department Horticulture Division assistant director Mohd Auzaie Koma Rudin,

Musang King, which originated from Tanah Merah, Kelantan, is slightly
oval in shape like a rugby ball and has a star-like pattern at the
bottom,”

The picture shown is the picture I took when I got a few pieces of Musang King from my sister-in-law orchard. I seldom see this type of characteristic of musing king sell in the stall. Most of the musang king sold are normally round or at best slightly oval shape. I seldom see a "rugby ball shape" as you can witness from the pictures in this article.

Generally speaking, Musang King durian is one of the most sorts after spices of all the durian spices by the local as well as a foreigner who resides in Malaysia. The main characteristic of a Musang King durian has thick and deep yellow flesh with small and flat seed. The thorns are wide and far apart from each other. and a star-like pattern mark is very obvious at the bottom of the fruit.

According to a report by Straits Times on November 18, 2017, it was reported that "Fake news of rejected Musang King durians act of sabotage, was sold in Raub and Bentong at dirt cheap price of RM30 per KG as compare to RM100 per KG during a peak period. It was an attempt by a certain party to sabotage the popularity of the fruit. The drop in price was a result of oversupply and competition among during traders in Bentong and Raub.

According to the report, it claimed that the photo with rejected durian was circulated in social media are not musang king. Furthermore, only frozen durian pulps are allowed to be exported to China all these while. With the exception recently durian fruits are exported to Nanning for the Durian Festival purpose

As a tourist to Malaysia, I hope this write-up about Musang King can be a reference for you to enjoy the king of the fruit and come back to Malaysia with your friends on your next trip

In my opinion, this fake news, in fact, publicise and advertise to a certain enhanced the popularity of the fruit. Like it or not, it may have some negative impact on the king of the fruit but durian enthusiastic forget this news very fast.
