My California - East Fork San Gabriel River
For this weeks Show Us Your California contest by @socalsteemit I'm going to share some photos from my favorite river in Southern California...
the East Fork of the San Gabriel river!!
Ever since my first trip to the East Fork over a decade ago I have been in love with this massive rugged canyon and the clear cold swift waters of the river that runs along it's bottom. On one of my trips up the canyon, about seven years ago, I was watching some gold prospectors digging along the river and I was inspired to try it myself. Well... I gave it a try and I found some gold! Right then I was hooked with the gold fever and I've been prospecting in the East Fork ever since. And here I'm going to share some photos from my adventures up the canyon this last summer. I hope you enjoy the scenery.

Wow, that’s a lot of gold! Well done! The East Fork is a great trail too!
Yep. That was the gold I told you about at the meetup last summer that I sold to buy that POS Jeep I was driving there for a little bit. I was sad to have to sell so much, but that Jeep got me to work for a few months so I could save up some cash for the much nicer 4runner that I'm currently driving now. So it was definitely worth it.
Let me know if you're ever thinking about going up there. If I'm around I'd love to join you for a day or 2 of digging!
I was thinking about going up for the day on Monday... our Arizona trip got cancelled this weekend and I was looking forward to prospecting out there. Might head up to East Fork on Monday instead but wasn’t sure if water level would be too high or if it would be too cold right now... worth a try or not after the recent weather? Would you want to join?

That's a good haul. I've never gone past the narrows. I usually find a spot right by the old mine just below and behind the bridge to nowhere. But, I'm never gotten near what you got today. Well done!!!
Thanks dude! I love digging way up there passed everyone. And yep, that was a pretty nice little haul. But it wasn't easy. A lot of time and hard work that went into getting that gold.

Pretty impressive haul of gold, not bad to get paid to dig around in a beautiful creek in a beautiful canyon :)
Honestly I usually don't even cover my costs. lol. But somedays I get lucky and find a really good spot. The truth is that the joy comes from getting to be out in the beauty of nature having fun and working hard. The gold is just a bonus, the icing on the cake so to say.

Thanks @travelfeed! I was checking out travelfeed.io yesterday and I was going to try posting this post from there but I had troubles getting the map to mark my location. I tried for a bit, but got frustrated and gave up. I'll give it another try with my next post, but if you have any tips or suggestions for me I would definitely appreciate it. Thanks again for all your support!
Hello Derek, you're probably using the Brave bowsers which blocks our map provider. You can either use a different browser or a temp solution is to logout, and then to clear all cookies and cache for TF.io. And then login again. This will resolve the issue for a few hours. We're in the works to find a solution to this.
Ahhh, ok. Thank you for the response! I will try it again in a day or 2 when I write my next travel post and if I still have an issue I will try clearing the cookies/cache and hopefully that will work!

I've made at least like 4 East Fork posts already. lol. I freakin' love that canyon. This post is probably still my favorite post that I ever wrote here on Steem.
