What do you think of this interesting quote, my fellow Steemians? Has traveling made you change opinion on anything or realize that you were wrong about any place or nation?

Let me know in the comments below, I am looking forward to your stories and experiences :)

This is realy a good idea to sharing with us your adventure. As you said that “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness.” i agreed with you. I love traveling and adventure. I am going northern areas tomorroe. And i will share with @czechglobalhosts and steemians to show you the beauty of adventure....

Amazing Quote you shared here @czechglobalhosts, You always doing an impressive work. Quotes are no doubt very helpful in our daily life and we can take initiative as well as guideline from these quotes which are the sayings of great personalities and in which their whole life experience involved. Here *Mark Twain beautifully expressed his views.

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”

What if we don't travel?

True words Tomas. Traveling not only open your mind and increase your knowledge but also give you better understanding about different cultures. It removes a lot of misconception about your understanding of different nation. so it's definitely fatal to prejuidice, bigotry and narrow mindedness. So let's help ourself and do traveling to become broad minded and enjoy the beauty of this world. Thanks for sharing @czechglobalhosts

100% right. Travels meaning refreshment. its a mind refreshment. I think everyone need travels sometimes.

This quote is really true and strongly agree with it ...
My own experience proves it ... In 2004 I had the opportunity to visit Hongkong for writing workshop ...
I almost refused this opportunity because I have prejudices that HongKong is a very expensive city and I would certainly have a lot of trouble there ...
But I then just took that chance, and when I got to HongKong and lived for a few days, I realized that all my prejudices were wrong ...😀

Have a good time, dear Tom @czechglobalhosts...😀☕❤

Nice, thank you for sharing your story!

It means that travelling is likely to open up your mind. Bit related to:

“seeing is believing”: you need to visit another place and see it in order to believe how things work there.
“Potemkin village”: you may end up deceived because people are showing you only things they want you to see.

This proverb is IMO less true today than it used to be, killed by globalised tourism. Fly over the earth, stay in a tourist resort, never learn anything about the local life and culture.

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness.”

............. so much truth in so few words.

This world is full of so many negative actions and yet we have these little things that can overcome these huge difficulties. I think the quote is especially relevant to the modern context. We see so much of different cultures in videos and other medias that we tend to absorb those second hand opinions about a region before we actually get to experience their culture on our own.

Travel is perhaps the most important key to global dialogue and understanding at a person to person level (I am not talking about political dialogue). Once we live in place drink it's water and eat its food and sit with their people can we safely say that we got to know about them. This is perhaps what Twain meant about travel being fatal to prejudice.

Very true. I think you can only give an opinion of a place if you visited it. I think it has happened to many of us that we make a judgment about a certain place by hearing the opinions of others and, when we visit it personally, it is totally different. It also happens that they recommend many places and when visiting them it was not as they said. Each head is a world. Traveling will make us have our own experience!
