7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Tuesday of Antarctica and the world’s oceans week #11 - the absolute winner takes 150 SBD!

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

Hello fellow steemians!

Welcome to my 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Tuesday of Antarctica and the world’s oceans - where the winner of the weekly round will be able to participate for the total of 150 SBD! Today you can participate by submitting your personal pictures from your travels to a continent of Antarctica. I am also adding world's oceans to the challenge as I am guessing it would be fairly hard to get many entries for Antarctica only.

Your entries need to be submitted by the midnight of Central European Time in order to be considered for the challenge with a description of approximately 30 to 50 words. Only one picture to be submitted for a daily photo challenge. The rule number one is to use only personal images. Ten winning photos will receive an upvote from me from which I will pick one winner that will receive extended publicity in my post tomorrow morning. I will also visit his/her blog to upvote one of the most recent posts.

The winner of daily challenge then competes against winners from other continental challenges of the respective week to receive the price of 15 SBD. That will be decided by you based on the dollar value of upvotes of my winning post announcement. The winning weekly picture then automatically enters other rounds for the price of 150 SBD in total.

Please see the winner of Asian Sunday as well as Australian Monday and give them your support if you like their image to be the one winning the weekly price and entering the other stages of the 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge. You can vote for them by upvoting their winner announcement posts below:

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Asian Sunday week #11 - winner announcement!

@vinceboisgard Asian Sunday entry:

This is a view from Kawah Ijen, a volcano located near Banyuwangi in Indonesia. After I climbed to the top and went down into the crater during the night. This was the view I had on my way down as the sun had just rised. Sulfur smokes and fog, other volcanoes and dead trees still standing on the edge of the volcano.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Australian Monday week #11 – winner announcement!

@animebros Australian Monday entry:

The Great Ocean Road is one of the top 5 places to visite in Autralia and it really is not hard to see why. :) These are two of the Twelve Apostles, soft limestone pillars formed by erosion from the Southern Ocean. They are called the 12 Apostles but there were never 12 only 9 at the beginning and since one collapsed in 2005 only 8 remain.

My wife took this photo of me snorkeling around the small Greek island of Milos. The snorkeling spots around this island are truly idyllic with the visibility tens of meters and the sun shining through the water, all the way to the bottom of the sea.

Great Barrier Reef

A nice memory of my three days and two nights on the Santa Maria. Three days to discover the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef off Cairns. This is the first picture I made when we cast anchor.

also been there and its a magical place. like the turquoise in the photo! :)

Another amazing picture from you! Thank you so much for your continued support and contribution. Tomas

Since Antarctica purely associated with COLD, here is my choice for today's topic

Do you think this picture is taken somewhere far north where is always cold? Not this time. This could happen even in Europe and it is actually taken at Baltic Sea, Lithuania during some quite cold period of the winter. Sometimes even here we have temperature dropping to -20 and still with very high humidity. When you even getting some ice under your nose when breathing :)

Thank you, ma friend )

Great exposure and focus! Love how smooth the colors of the horizon mix!

This truly is a stunning picture.

Standing on the black volcanic rock beach at the snæfellsnes peninsula, staring at the ocean and the coloured sky. I'm loosing myself to infinity, this colourful painting looking seascape is so calming that I forgot for a second about the real world.

Location: snæfellsnes peninsula, Iceland.

the horizon is just like drawn with a ruler ! Like it :)

Absolutely stunning!

My contribution to the challenge is this photo of me in the stormy waters of the Atlantic Ocean at Playa Jimenez in Puerto de la Cruz on the Canary island of Tenerife taken in October 2016.

did you swallow a lot of salt water? :D

Thank you so much for your participation. Stay tuned for the winner announcement. Tomas

It is interesting and strange phenomenon of the nature. The picture is taken in the north on frozen Baltic sea. As you know - the water is expanding when frozen. And this expanding ice climbs on the stones and breaks up. It looks like the stones want to break thru the ice into the open air.

This is a stunning entry! Thank you so much for your participation. Tomas

Thank you

Very interesting, nice point of view.

Thanks. Just low :)

I took this photo during my summer holidays. I am always amazed and thankful for the nature we live in. I just hope that we won't destroy this unbelievable God's creation.

this could be in a Travel magazine. great color saturation

This really is an amazing shot but I will not consider it this time. I have added oceans to the challenge as not many people have pictures from Antarctica. I am even all good with seas but with this one, we are going more and more inland. Thank you for your understanding and have a great day. Tomas

Thank you for the explanation , I will choose better one from my portfolio for the next challenge :)

Great idea with the addition of the oceans, I look forward to the competition works.

yeah, just to make it easier and doable as not many people have pics from Antarctica....

Power of Atlantic ocean and magic of sun! It was amazing day, we really enjoy it :)

looks majestic!

Hi, this is a fabulous picture but cannot be considered for the challenge as it lacks a description of 30 to 50 words. Thank you for your understanding. Tomas

Medellín is also called "the city of eternal spring". That means, that you have to expect a sudden change from 27degrees celsius to a thunderstorm & back in between minutes. "El Poblado" is a sketchy part of the city with hundreds of cafés and restaurants. When it started to rain, I was glad to jump into the next café where I captured this picture and also spend the afternoon.

Thank you for your submission. However, I will not be able to consider your entry as it has neither Antarctica or ocean in it. Thank you for your understanding. Tomas

No worries, I misread the application. I think a got a proper picture though for that. Thanks for taking the time to respond, Thomas.
