See the winner of the last week´s European Thursday @axeman with the following entry:

Rainfall of Souls. The strongest Aurora Borealis I have seen in my life so far. Well, I wasn't yet in Norway or Iceland. And for Lithuania this is extremely rare occasion to have such strong solar storm visible, also because we have many cloudy and rainy days per year. Anyhow, that was true luck and extremely calm weather this night. So we went further from the city to the beach of Baltic Sea and Miss Fortune was really on our side :) Shot with wide 14mm lens on 30 seconds long exposure. Enjoy it!

Your entries need to be submitted by 8 AM Central European Time in order to be considered for the challenge with a description of approximately 30 to 50 words. Only use of personal images will be accepted and only one picture can be submitted for a daily photo challenge. Ten winning photos will receive a bigger upvote from me and ten runners-up will get a smaller one.

Chosen from the ten winning entries, the absolute winner of the day will receive extended publicity in my post tomorrow morning. I will also visit his/her blog to upvote one of the most recent posts. The winning picture of the daily challenge will then automatically enter other rounds with the absolute winner gaining approximately 200 SBD in total.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Asian Sunday week #66 - winner announcement!

@jpphotography Asian Sunday entry:

Hoshida Park Suspension Bridge in Osaka, Japan. Hoshida Park in the suburbs of Osaka is a fantastic spot for viewing autumn leaves. It is popular with locals, but little known among tourists. Getting there is quite hard, we ended up hitchhiking the last kilometres, but the amazing suspension bridge (free!) and the beautiful fall foliage colours are certainly worth the trip!

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Tuesday of Antarctica and World´s Oceans week #66 – winner announcement!

@axeman Tuesday of Antarctica and World´s Oceans entry:

Flaming Cyprus. Early morning at Northern Cyprus. Just pretty close to our hotel, very nice rocky coast of the sea. And by same time you can see mountains to the right. Amazing colorful and really burning sunrise. The fog flowing down the mountains brings some additional touch to the final view. Enjoy it!

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - African Wednesday week #66 - winner announcement!

@karma-panorama African Wednesday entry:

Stone carvings depicting writing, pharaohs and Egyptian gods inside Luxor Temple in Egypt.
Hieroglyphs are mysterious, even to this day, can we be certain that they have really been deciphered perfectly? The pharaohs are represented bizarrely, with birds' heads and strange and disproportionate hats. So cool to see.

The Redeemer Statue. Located on the top of the Tal Merzug Hill above the tiny coastal town of Marsalforn on the Maltese island of Gozo, this statue was created in 1904 and it has been one of the most famous landmarks of the town ever since. Strikingly resembling the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, the Maltese statue is actually five times smaller, reaching "just" 6 m (19.7 ft) in height.

View of the Monaco harbor and the sea during a colorful sunrise. Although this country is the second smallest country in the world with a total area of just 2 sq km (0.78 sq mi), it has a lot to offer and is very popular with tourists.

Christmas in Barcelona

For the arrival of Christmas and New Year many cities are decorated in a special manner. In the northern hemisphere where the nights are quite long at this time of the year, special display of lights are quite common. This photo was taken some years ago in one of the main shopping streets of Barcelona.

Oh, Barca..one of my most favorite European cities! It brings me back some great memories;)

I really like Barcelona. It is a very interesting city. Thank you for your comment.

Poppit Sands Beach
The day we have visited the beach in Pembrokeshire the tide was low, and the shoreline was wide. The light was bouncing off the ground. And even though it was April, people were wetting their feet in the cold ocean.

Lake Alpsee, Bavaria, Germany
Lake Alpsee is located near two beautiful castles in Bavaria - Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein. We arrived at Neuscchwanstein and decided to take a hike around the lake. It was fabulous. I walked down to the water. Water is crystal clear and a beautiful blue. You can also take very pleasant walk around the lake and visit these two castles. This area in Germany is simply amazing.

Ta je kouzelná :) Nádhera!

Člověk projíždí tou krajinou a musí každou chvíli zastavovat u různých jezer jak je to krásný pohled :)

The Baltic Waves

Baltic Sea is truly very changeable and brings a lot of colorful sunsets during the year. Here is another summer one. Amazing warm colors and a bit of long exposure to freeze the long waves movement. Stone as foreground detail.
Shot nearby Klaipeda, Lithuania with wide angle lens and low shooting point

Enjoy it!

Close near my home I had this spectacular view. I had to be quick because it was freezing this morning. Holland has four seasons and winter hasn't really kicked in yet. This light shows more cold is coming.

The most famous nature in Norway is Fjord which is a must-visit viewpoint for tourists. And here, Flam is the most popular place to enjoy this stunning view. When you have a chance to be here, go for a boat trip and enjoy this view. I bet it worths the price.

The sunset through a Mediterranean cane. The sunset was really nice as we come back home so I stopped the car and try to found a good spot to take a picture around the 'Étang du Ponant' in France near Montpellier.

Capela dos Ossos is one of the most famous monuments of Évora in Portugal. It is a small chapel located near the Church of St. Francis, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Its walls and eight columns are "decorated" with bones and skulls. The ceiling is made of bricks painted white and decorated with morbid motifs. The number of skeletons estimated to make this work is 5,000, from cemeteries of nearby churches. Some locals claim that it would be the bones of plague victims or dead combatants in a nearby battle.
