Shot from a hotel bar in Shinagawa. It's looking North towards Tokyo Tower (332.9 metres or 1,092 ft). At the time of construction in 1958 Tokyo Tower was the tallest freestanding tower in the world, taking the title from the Eiffel Tower by 13 metres. Depending on where you draw the boundaries there are between 9 million and 38 million people living in Tokyo. The prefecture forms part of the world's most populous metropolitan area of 37.8 million people.

Stone carvings depicting pharaohs and Egyptian gods inside Luxor Temple in Egypt.
The Temple was constructed approximately 1400 BCE. In the Egyptian language it is known as ipet resyt, "the southern sanctuary". It is dedicated to the rejuvenation of kingship; it may have been where many of the kings of Egypt were crowned.
Amazing to see original colors still intact after all these years.

Sandy Sahara

The sand dunes of the Moroccan Sahara are incredible and I cannot stop posting about them! The patterns that the strong winds form into the giant dunes and the colours that the rising sun produces are incredible!

I have also posted this photo on my blog.

This is one of my favourites photos taken during a race. I took this shot during an amazing early morning 25km trail race on a farm in Grabouw, South Africa. I just had to stop and capture the moment! Wouldn't you?

African sunrise

Early morning at Hurghada, Egypt. Very calm and wonderfully colorful one. Shot at the beach just on the territory of the hotel.
This time sun already risen, but hided behind narrow line of clouds on the horizon, allowing to get few more pretty unusual frames with a sunbeams spreading both to the top and to the bottom.
Some silhouettes of the boats far away...

Shot with long tele-photo lens compressing the perspective

Enjoy the scenery :)

This hawk statue stands guard at the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut in Luxor Egypt. This temple honors Queen Hatshepsut and is very close to the famous Valley of the Kings. A must visit when traveling through Egypt.

Kebili Ksar Ghilan
I am a fervent of this sunrise that I have lived so many times always with the same emotion.
Since it is possible to spend the night in a house (or hotel) located at the foot of the dunes, everything is simplified! You can ask your host to wake you up to see this "sunrise", you leave at night, with a flashlight in the direction you have been told to reach the summit of the highest dune. It is a kind of quest grail (at least) a kind of initiatory course (at least too ...). As you move towards your goal, following the crest of the small dunes that leads you there, the rising day your goal is clarified. The last step, the climb / the big dune has always seemed more difficult. The effort takes you to the top, and there, you wait sitting, the sun rises: show and lived unforgettable !!!
Then, it is the descent for a hearty breakfast, in your place of night or elsewhere, making a small detour through the palm grove.

Volcano high above Africa

v haa1.png

Towering over East Africa this Volcano is big big big. Lava flows and evidence of the ice that was and still is here makes for a stunning site. But at ~6000 m above sea level save the breathe for the trek back to thick air. Enjoy the view!
