Today, you can participate by submitting your personal pictures from your travels to the continent of Africa.

See the winner of the last week´s African Wednesday @dali-gis with the following entry:

Douz-Tunisia. Sahara desert: +40 heat, sand, wind and desert ships! It is here that tourists come to meet the sunset and ride a camel. We, too, did it, but only without any use. Independently organizing a trip to the Sahara, we traveled all tourist places by our friendly company on one car.

Your entries need to be submitted by 8 AM Central European Time in order to be considered for the challenge with a description of approximately 30 to 50 words. Only use of personal images will be accepted and only one picture can be submitted for a daily photo challenge. Ten winning photos will receive a bigger upvote from me and ten runners-up will get a smaller one.

Chosen from the ten winning entries, the absolute winner of the day will receive extended publicity in my post tomorrow morning. I will also visit his/her blog to upvote one of the most recent posts. The winning picture of the daily challenge will then automatically enter other rounds with the absolute winner gaining approximately 200 SBD in total.

@vcclothing Asian Sunday entry:

I was exploring the caves in Petra Jordan were people used to live and I came across this one cave that had a window with a awesome view. I was there during winter so it was cold out side but surprisingly inside the caves was alot warmer. Petra is an amazing place to explore! So many cool caves to check out.

@axeman Tuesday of Antarctica and World´s Oceans entry:

Coming back to frozen Baltic Sea and amazing views which you could see during very cold and very calm periods of winter. Very low shooting angle and very wide angle lens again bringing quite unusual overall perspective for the scenery. Enjoy the scenery!

I took this photo in Kampala, the capital of Uganda during my visit there. Kampala is located on the northern edge of Lake Victoria and my hotel happened to be located right along the lake. Kampala is a big city with lots of people and excitement, so the quiet retreat along the lake was a perfect getaway after exploring the city!

Camels in the Sahara

On the last day of my trip to the Sahara, our guide readied the camels early in the morning. To give the camels a rest, we all agreed on walking back to Merzouga instead of risking another bumpy ride.

I have also posted this photo on my blog.

Truly outstanding shot! Well done.

Nuri Pyramids, Sudan

Want a pyramid experience without the swarms of tourists? Try Egypt's neighbor to the south, Sudan. Dating back to the seventh century BC, the Nuri Pyramids were part of the ancient city of Napata, the first capital of the kingdom of Kush. It's about six hours north of Khartoum -if you make it all the way here, you'll likely have the place completely to yourself!

That is great ! Was it difficult to enter sudan ?

It took a little effort ;) I was there for work, so my employer helped a lot!

Thank you so much for your wonderful entry. Kindly stay tuned for the winner announcement coming later on today. Tomas

Have you ever been lost in a semi-desert?! Every second December I explore this very remote semi-desert farm called Keiskie, about 20km from the closest town Calvinia in the Northern Cape of South Africa. What a privilege to explore a place untouched by humans! ;)

What a great framing for your image. Wonderful shot!

Camel ride Tozeur Chott Jerid

Take a stroll between the expanses of sand and salt and the lush vegetation of the oasis that cover the south of Tunisia.
This region is more authentic & quiet, more hospitable also compared to the hyper tourist north where one has as much the impression of being on the Spanish coasts as in Tunisia & where you meet many more tourists than native ones.

What a capture! Absolutely stunning!

Thank you so much for your participation and this fabulous shot. Have a good one. Tomas

This week’s animal photo will be Kudu.
Why should always be a predator, this time it is time for the prey 😁
Photo is from Etosha NP in Namibia and was taken in September 2015.

We saw this crocodile during our sunset boattrip close to the Popa falls, Namibia, lying on a rock with his mouth wide open
The reason they keep their mouth open, is to cool it off and avoid overheating. Scary animal.

What a nice little fact, I did not know that.

Morocco Sahara
I very well remember the golden hour inside the Sahara desert, the sand changed into a nice red/brown color and the sky got super blue just before the sun went down. Truely a magical place to be in all different light situations.

Simply stunning. I love the red color of the sand.

Thank you Tomas! Appreciate it :))

Landscape of São Tomé, an African Island. In the photo we can see one of the famous peaks in the Island, Pico do Cão Grande (Big Dog's peak). It has a vulcanic origin, and rises more than 300m above ground.

That is a lot of greenery out there.... Thank you so much for your great entry. Tomas

Ahah true! And the photo doesn't do it justice! Thanks for the feedback!

These are the Roman ruins of Dougga in Tunisia. They are some of the best preserved Roman ruins in Africa, largely because they are in a very rural area so people weren't hauling away stones for new constructions like they would if it was near a city. Unfortunately, because it is such a rural area transportation isn't very good and we could only do about an hour of exploring because the last louage (shared minibus) of the day back to Tunis left in the early afternoon.

What a fabulous entry, thank you so much for your participation.
