Indian Sub-Continent / Humanity vs The Natural World (DOUBLE EXPOSURE-PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT)

This collection of 10 images was produced to tackle the effects of pollution, logging and technology in India. Each one consists of at least 2 images, exposed together to give extra meaning to the message. All shot in India. Above: A city stray cat looks out towards it's ancestral and the big cats that still roam the Indian bush, with aspirations and a dream to join them.

A mountainous meadow flat land in northern Maharashtra combined with a busy morning by the River Ganges. Hundreds of fishermen and worshippers gather by the water to work and cleanse. Over fishing is a problem India has faced for many years, as regulations struggle to prevent mass-fishing by gigantic nets at the beginning of every season.

A Hindu man feed the seagulls on the banks of the River Ganges, while overlooking a the bleak and communist looking city scape of Pune from Baner Hill.

Young men play a game of makeshift Cricket in Varanasi after a long day working the tourists for the basics of life. It is the dream of every Indian boy to play Cricket for the national team. Like football in Africa, Cricket brings people together.

The two places of choice for Ringo Star, George Harrison, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, Goa and Rishikesh. A water scene at the bay in Anjuna, and the inside of the Beatles Cathedral in an abandoned Ashram in the Himalayas once loved by the band.

Two Tibetan Monks in the Indian Himalayan town of Dharamshala, home of the Dalai Llama and refuge for Tibetans fleeing the Chinese occupation of Tibet. Look across the Himalaya towards Tibet, a land they no longer recognise. Fisher man in Allahbad row out into the sunrise to try and catch a fish to sell or eat.

Two mountain climbers try to enjoy the view from a peak but it is ruined by the necessitates of the lower class. Plastic and wood fires are required to purify drinking water and motorbikes provide the best way of transport despite there effect on the quality of air. Until the India government solves these basic problems, the state of the country is on a one-way highway to disaster...

Human's leave a carbon footprint where ever they go. We can try and reduce this but our way of life, now requires specific energy and comforts we now see as basic needs. In this image the planet has left it's mark on this explorer, who is enjoying the cold baths of an Ancient Hindu temple in the Sayadri Mountains.

Another cat looks out into the wildness and hears the call of nature. Domesticated animals are one of the most exploited trades in the whole of Asia, not just India. Fashionable cats and dogs are the choice of the rich, and the abundance of abandoned dogs cause major problems for those living in extreme poverty.

I hope you enjoyed this article and my art work. Some of these photo's have been posted before singularly but this is the first time I've published them as a collection, and it is the first time half of them have seen the light of day.
