A Photo Tour of A Cathedral In Guadalajara, Contributed by @TangerineTravels

in #travel6 years ago

Yesterday, we visited a couple of cathedrals in Guadalajara and our favorite was called Expiatorio, which comes from the word Expiar which means to confess.

This place is incredible, so we'd love to take you all on a little photo tour through it and show you the beauty of this magnificent building!

We thought this was pretty interesting. Why do you think there's this eye within a triangle? Are we going to find Nicolas Cage digging underneath this building pretty soon?

Down below the church, you can find these catacombs. There was a very unique feeling that came over our bodies when walking down in here. Maybe it was just the fact that we know there are people buried down here? Maybe it's that it's encased in cement, which makes it feel cool despite having no air conditioning? I'm not sure, but it was quite the feeling walking down in there.

Our favorite part of it had to be the stained glass, though. It was absolutely incredible!

The temple looks ancient but new, old but beautiful.

If we are to hear the age of the temple, I'm sure many of us would be marveled, but still look at how relevant it is to the structure of today.

Since the name of the temple is confession temple, I think the eyes within the triangle should be the one watching if you are really confessing..... Hahahab

Just my mind anyway...smile

But in general, the temple looks awesome.
Hope you remember to make some confessions @TangerineTravels...hahahah

Thanks @TangerineTravels and @communitycoin

The building were good and you tried capture it well enough for us to see the image within it. The images drawn my attention back to Christ and His persecution on earth.DQmS8WCf2YLbGgYjKFo92dLTvU4VUCB8Qbhhig4EeKf8bFu_1680x8400.jpeg

Yes it's educative,in case one see such a building one can identify it's cathedral not party hall

Guadalajara is the most advanced city in Mexico. Full of history and culture, making it more attractive and becoming the second most important place in the country.

Famous for football and other tours such as museums, parks, churches, cowboy shows and so on. Some of the following buildings and places are a favorite place for tourists here.

Cathedral of Guadalajara The cathedral was built on 31 July 1568 and was completed on 19 February 1618. It was built on the orders of the Spanish King Felipe II. Actually the cathedral was named Basílica de la Asunción de Nuestra Señora de la Santísima Virgen María by the King. It turned out that the name belonged to a woman and the building was built to be dedicated to her. Designed by an architect named Martín Casillas, making this style of building more attractive with European style and neoclassical touch. This cathedral has undergone several renovations for a century, having been shaken by an earthquake and damaging parts of it. However, the beauty of this building is maintained. There is a painting created by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo and there are also heritage relics of Martyrs Relic made of bones of 23 men and many other interesting legacy in it.

Templo Expiatorio del Santisimo Sacramento This chinese-style church is located southwest of the downtown block. Although not pure European style but you will feel like being in France and see one of the amazing European-style temples. Although built from 1890 and completed in 1970, the building is still well maintained. The door portion of the church is made of Granadillo wood covered with bronze. In front of it are three mosaic of Italian made by Vatican Mosaic Factory.

This is absolutely beautiful. I can imagine the way you must have felt while walking in there. Thank you for showing us this. This is really amazing.

Why do you think there's this eye within a triangle? Are we going to find Nicolas Cage digging underneath this building pretty soon?

Wow! Those stained glass windows are amazing. I love touring big beautiful churches. I actually proposed to my fiancée at the National Shrine of the Basillica of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC. The biggest church in the US.
Thanks for sharing!

Interesting building, Gothic architecture for sure.
Looking at the symbols, very clear the one eye with the pyramid.
Do your research so you can understand what means. It is for sure, is not the eye of GOD.

Woww... I'm really impressed. These cathedrals are really ancient, yet they always are able to main their interior aesthetics. I really love how beautiful these churches are. The stained glass is absoultely amazing.
