RE: A Photo Tour of A Cathedral In Guadalajara, Contributed by @TangerineTravels

in #travel6 years ago
Guadalajara is the most advanced city in Mexico. Full of history and culture, making it more attractive and becoming the second most important place in the country.

Famous for football and other tours such as museums, parks, churches, cowboy shows and so on. Some of the following buildings and places are a favorite place for tourists here.

Cathedral of Guadalajara The cathedral was built on 31 July 1568 and was completed on 19 February 1618. It was built on the orders of the Spanish King Felipe II. Actually the cathedral was named Basílica de la Asunción de Nuestra Señora de la Santísima Virgen María by the King. It turned out that the name belonged to a woman and the building was built to be dedicated to her. Designed by an architect named Martín Casillas, making this style of building more attractive with European style and neoclassical touch. This cathedral has undergone several renovations for a century, having been shaken by an earthquake and damaging parts of it. However, the beauty of this building is maintained. There is a painting created by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo and there are also heritage relics of Martyrs Relic made of bones of 23 men and many other interesting legacy in it.

Templo Expiatorio del Santisimo Sacramento This chinese-style church is located southwest of the downtown block. Although not pure European style but you will feel like being in France and see one of the amazing European-style temples. Although built from 1890 and completed in 1970, the building is still well maintained. The door portion of the church is made of Granadillo wood covered with bronze. In front of it are three mosaic of Italian made by Vatican Mosaic Factory.
