The house of photography - TIS summit Marrakech [Day 3]

in #travel6 years ago

It's now day 3 of my Marrakech trip. Today I'll be attending the first pre tour of the summit. It's a street food tour this evening with the group. It'll be the first time seeing the fellow summit attendants. Yesterday was a very awesome day. In the morning we went to the house of photography, which was really nice to see. There's a lot of history in Morrocco and many great photographers have roamed around here to make some really exclusive shots of the culture. Sadly I don't have any shots of the pictures itself, but I do have some of the building. The building itself is really nice. It's also a riad, which means that there's a garden in the middle and everything else is built around it.

The house of photography also has a really cozy rooftop where you can get some coffee or tea. We didn't get any tea over here because it was way more expensive than in other places. The entry to the house of photography is 40dr, which is about €4 after currency exchange commissions. The house is a bit small for this price, but I'd say it's definitely worth it. Specially if you are into photography. There are a lot of really old pictures that go back to even in the 1800s.

After the house of museum we wandered around through the médina which is far more pleasant in the morning than in the evening. It was a lot easier to walk through the small streets as there weren't that many people yet. Plus the small shops aren't that pushy to get you to buy some things. After the walk we went back to our juice deal on the jemaa el-fnaa square, The juice is always fleshly made and super cheap! It's truly refreshing after walking all morning. After getting some vitamins in we went to grab lunch at the same place as yesterday. The food there is really delicious and cheap.

Next it was time to head back to the hostel to get some rest. When I arrived I met a really awesome dude from Australia. He also loves photography and videography and has many photographer friends. We talked alot about it and ended up watching Yes Theory on youtube. We decided to walk around a bit both outside the center and then back into the médina. We walk all the way to the other end of the médina till we hit the end of the city center. Here we stumble across a crazy trafic jam as a car is trying to get through the narrow streets while motorbikes and pedestrians are trying to pass in both directions.

In the evening we all relaxed together in the hostel. We watched "Yes Theory" together and eventuelly ended up chatting with all our roommates and having a really nice conversation. This is what I love about travelling. Meeting new people from all over the world and sharing our stories with each other. I truly believe everyone in the world should travel. It would make the world a better place and break down barriers between cultures and stereotypes.
