The Famous Oregon Coast

Growing up on the Oregon coast as I did is sure a privilege many people don't get to experience. So let me take you on a walk down the Oregon Coast and share some highlights, facts and fun things to do.

Now I grew up in Lincoln City Oregon which is on hwy 101 in Oregon.
On about the 45th parallel. On the east side of Lincoln City is Devils Lake, on the west side is the Pacific Ocean and the Coast Range. It is roughly 55 miles east of Salem Oregon and roughly 98 miles southeast of Portland Oregon

The annual rain fall average is 75 inches "so bring rain gear". It does get up into the 70' 80's and hotter in the summer months though. Many people love to go to the beach and watch the storms come in.

There is so much to do and see I am just going to be touching on a few things.
The city of Lincoln City adopted a plan that has just exploded since it was started in 1999-2000
It is called "Finders Keepers" what this is in short is glass blowers from all over the coast donate hand blown glass floats works of art which are then put in hiding spots on the beach throughout the year from the “float ferries. It started with 2000 and more are added every year. If you find one on the beach they ask that you go to the visitors center and record it and get the COA

Then the annual kite festival, what would the beach be without kites?
The summer of 2018 kite festival will be held June 23, 24 2018
The Lincoln City Summer Kite Festival is held on the beach, in the center of Lincoln City, at the D-River Wayside.
Did someone say kites?

On July 4th every year Siletz Bay has its annual firework show right out over the bay " it is beautiful"
