Zhouzhuang – China's little Venice

Approximately 55 kilometers Southeast of Suzhou city, on the southern shore of lake Baixian, is one of the most beautiful cities of China – Zhouzhuang.

The city is surrounded by a network of rivers and lakes, which fill the channels, penetrating Zhouzhuang from all sides. Thanks to the wonderful beauty of the local channels city dubbed the "Chinese Venice".

The dominant attraction of the city are its 14 bridges built during the Qing dynasty and Ming.

The oldest bridge is Zhouzhuang Fu'an – it was built in 1355. The majority of houses – monuments of architecture of the Qing dynasty and Ming, so if you want to see in what conditions the Chinese lived more than six hundred years ago, then you should definitely visit Zhouzhuang.

The most interesting attraction is the mansion of the then millionaire. Built in 1742 two-storey house has 100 rooms and occupies an area of 2000 square meters.

Some of the mansions of the wealthy built in such a way that the front door to the house you can sail on a private boat through a small canal in the yard.
