I have many car freak friends and they are proud to say it. We love cars for many reasons but I love them for the speed. I am not a racer but I wouldn’t mind trying to be one on a lonely road. You have to know what joy driving a speedy car gives. My favorite car movie was ‘fast and furious’, and I bet you know why already. From fanciful to speedy, cars run some really ‘crazy’. Are you like my friends? Let’s discuss the ten reigning fastest car in the world then. Follow my list below

Not exactly one of the household names when talking exotic cars, I found out it is massive in speed and deserves the top spot on our list. This expensive baby would make you feel like burning the road anytime you find yourself behind its wheel. Guess what? It managed to build a massive reputation for itself within the very little time it found its way to the supercars market, and it is a perfect representation of power, might and speed that blows off all other supercars in a storm and contest of speed. Its 273mph means that it is faster than any other car currently in the world.
It doesn’t just give the speed, it comes with a 5-liter turbocharged V8 engine with a very high compression ratio (9.0.1) which means that it is capable of generating as much as 1200 pounds feet of torque and horsepower of 1140. The car could zoom from halt to 60mph in less than 2.5 seconds and it could reach a speed of 186mph in 11.7 seconds. Did you just say wow? I think so too. Just prepare as much as £1.1million and experience an automotive speed like no other.

Trailing the Koenigsegg closely with a speed of 270mph, it is also a relatively new name in the automobile industry but has managed to up its game to the top level. There is more to this car than the speed as it is beautifully built as well as sleekly designed. It is based on a modified Lotus Edge and thus will terrify anyone upon first glance with its perfect pack of accessories and boastful engine.
Slightly different from Koenigsegg, it is packed with a mighty 7.0 liter twin turbocharged V8 engine which is capable of generating 1244 horsepower and 1155 pound feet torque. This means that the engine would fly from the spot to 62mph in less than 2.8 seconds and accelerate easily from zero to 200mph. This is made possible with its intercooler upgrade and single-shift clutch system that responds almost immediately. Save up to $1.2 million and enjoy this pacey baby.

A compound name in the industry is on the third spot. Bugatti cars have always sold as luxury and its speed is just one part of the luxury composition. Need I remind you that the Bugatti Veyron also held the world of automobile to ransom in the Guinness world Record for years, being the fastest car to exceed 250mph? It was subsequently faced with technical challenges which made the Koenigsegg overtake it. After this however, they wouldn’t relent as they came up with this car that boast 268mph, only 5mp lesser than the overtaking brand. It is equipped with 8 liter quad-turbo engine (W16) which generates a torque of 1106 Ib-ft and a horsepower of 1200. This means the car would go from zero spot to 60mph within 2.4 seconds. The car is a breeze to drive and comfortable to ride in but its bomb is in how it makes reaching an insane speed seem really effortless. It is selling for €1.6 million and really on high demand. Going to get mine right away. Lol.

The first time I saw this car and its name GT9, I wasn’t so sure of which of the automobile company produced it until I read it belong to that German tuning company, 9ff. It is a supercar especially based on the historic Porsche 911. They are even more similar in physique and exterior styles although they wear a little bit of difference in the interior. GT9 made name for itself for being faster than the original Bugatti Veyron, although slower than its SuperSport Model.
It came with a fitted and modified 4.0 liter flat 6 cylinder engine which enables it to produce a torque of 910 Ib-ft and horsepower of 1120. These are the components responsible for its 257mph as well as its ability to move from zero to 60mph in 2.9 seconds and reaching a speed of 190mph from halt under 16 seconds. The manufacturer ensured no two vehicles are designed alike and offer buyers option of customizing or personalizing their cars especially in the areas of design, color and performance.

You only need to see this car once to fall in love with it as much as me. It is formerly known as Shelby SuperCars and produced by SSC North America. The design is a mid-engine sports car recorded by the Guinness book of record to be the fastest car for three years between 2007 and 2010, just before Bugatti introduced its Veyron. As the automobile gods will have it, the Guinness World record disqualified Bugatti Veyron in 2013 for unknown reason to reinstate the SSC Ultimate Aero as the fastest car ever. As if that was not enough, the change was reverted for a new company in the industry five days later.
It is a 6.3 liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine which produces as much as 1112 Ib-ft of torque and an impressive horsepower of 1287. With a top speed of 256mph in less than a minute and reaching as much as a speed of 200mph from zero in 16 seconds. It is overall an easy to control car as well as a powerful one with electronic driver aids. It goes for a relatively cheaper price at €550,000

Koenigsegg seems to fancy the speed and beautiful designs. This is why another of its model finds a place here. Although a mid-engine sport car, it once briefly held the global record of fastest car before being gazumped by the original Bugatti Veyron. The Koenigsegg CCR model reached a top speed of 242mph in 2005 at the Italy’s Nardo Ring and therefore positioned among the trendsetters for faster supercars, definitely after McLaren and Ferrari. Heads up! This model of the brand is an earlier generation of the car’s brand but still manages to be in the limelight to date.
The car is equipped with a 4.7 liters V8 engine which generates as much as 806 horsepower and 920 Ib-ft torque. It is estimated that the car can zoom from 0 to 62mph in 3.7 seconds and attain 146mph in 9.7 seconds. What a luxury this is?

This is a compound name especially to fans of Formula one racing. This car deserves some accolade for making it on this list after 23 years of existence. Its interior is a bomb and very unique. It is designed to be a three-seater with the driver seat positioned between two passengers’ seats, each on a side. It is a 6.1 liter BMW M V12 engine that produces 670 horsepower and a torque peak of 520 Ib-ft. This means that the car could accelerate from zero to 60mph in 3.2 seconds. One of it was once sold for $8.47 million in 2013. Expensive you say? Maybe! But I think it’s worth the cash.

First Danish automobile to catch my attention I must say and it is absolutely worth the respect. Sleek design, massive speed and amazing structure, you definitely wouldn’t get tired of riding in the comfort of this car. I must say Zenvo got this pretty right. It is the company’s first supercar model and was released back in 2009. The car could dash to a speed of 233mph and could also accelerate from zero to 60mph in 3 seconds.
Equipped with 6.8 liter V8 engine that generate 1104 horsepower and a torque of 1050 Ib-ft, it reaches 200mph in only 8.9 seconds. Other great features it contains include telescopic steering wheel adjustment, a keyless entry system and all of this is available for just €660,000.

Italian and it took the supercars market just by mafia storm that it announces and create indelible reputation for itself almost immediately. It is arguably a high performing, unique and quality hyper car that beats majority of the racing cars just amazingly although not exactly the fastest. Its acceleration is a bomb as it oozes a whooping torque of 738 Ib-ft and 730 horsepower from a 6 liter twin turbo V12 engine. You can always get it between €900,000 and €1,000,000.

Compound name in both British and global automobile world, this model is the fastest and the most extreme of the road going Aston martin brand ever created. Designs, layout and structure are similar to the regular Aston Martin but it is a completely different car with its boastful 7.3 liter V12 engine producing as much as 750 horsepower and 800 Ib-ft torque. Apart from this, it is known for its striking beauty, and can accelerate to 60mph from zero in just 3.5 seconds.
Now that you have an idea of the reigning top ten fastest car in the world, choose yours and shop for it. I have gotta get mine too but still deciding on which…depending how this article does!
