This is my written entry for @v4vapid Tinfoil Raps 2 Contest.

It is not true that "nobody wants war". If it were, there would not be.

GO for God It seems that there is quite a consensus that Trump has done something right. And he has done it by doing exactly the opposite of what Barack Obama did and what he criticized him for: acting in Syria.

That president was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize upon arrival at the White House and before he did anything. Goodness.

It was a great success of the Norwegian prize committee. Because, when Obama landed in the Oval Office, in the Middle East there was no war and when he left there were four: Iraq, Libya, Yemen and Syria. Let's see who was going to give him the Nobel like that, poor man, with what he deserved.

The one in Syria was a particularly relevant case. When the hostilities broke out there were some pro-American Syrian factions, defenders of Western values.

Obama did not move a finger to defend them in such a way that the two jihadist rebels and Assad's troops pummeled them in two blows. From there, the most important thing was to do nothing.

Especially since once the decision not to intervene had led to leaving two evils on the battlefield, it was almost impossible to bet on any. That is why it is especially incomprehensible that Damascus used chemical weapons at a time when things were going less badly for them.

His army has been conquering positions for months and the Daesh is lacking oxygen without the need to use sarin gas.

Russia had already clearly taken sides with Assad and victory was a matter of time. This absurd error of the sovereign of the Assad dynasty has allowed the entry into combat of the United States. But it is not so simple either.

Trump has punished the use of chemical weapons.

The problem is that this punishment can only be qualified, not absolute. For the simple reason that decapitating the Damascus regime would open the doors to a much worse alternative, from the Daesh environment.

The inaction of recent years and the consent with which the genocidal tyranny of Damascus has been treated has resulted in the war that has taken place on the other side of the Mediterranean for more than five years in the midst of our total indifference.

So much so, that until this very week we have been living peacefully in Marbella with Rifaat al-Assad, brother of the former Syrian president and uncle of the current one. Rifaat was vice president of the Republic. And from that position he executed the Hama massacre in February 1982.

A city of 180,000 inhabitants that left flattened. Amnesty International estimated the dead in "up to 25,000." Hafez al-Assad never discussed it. He wanted his people to know what was happening with the one who dared to answer him: he died. Unless you were his brother, in which case you went to the golden exile of Marbella to do all kinds of dark business with the prolonged indifference of all political signs.

It is not true that "nobody wants war". If it were, there would not be. And there are them since there is life on the planet. The problem comes when the good guys are determined not to do anything against those who are clearly willing to use violence sooner or later.

Because what happens in those cases is that the war ends up coming when it's best for your enemy.

The detested Iraq war generated, according to the "Iraq Family Health Survey", 151,000 fatalities (2003-2006). The civil war in Syria has generated, according to the "Syrian Center for Policy Research", 470,000 deaths (2011-2016). But they will still tell us that it is better to do like Obama and let them continue killing each other.
