Goodwill Outlet Income Experiment - Thrifting, Picking, & Finding Profit Day 28 - How's The Weather?

in #thrifting6 years ago

Adventures in thrifting income from the pay per pound Goodwill - Day 28.

The problem with going to the Outlet every day is that you have to go about the same time every day. What I mean is that if I go in the afternoon on Friday, I can't really go in the morning on Saturday as the same stuff will still be there.

Much of the bins had the same stuff I saw last night. To combat this, I took part in three "unveilings" where they remove the sheet covering the bins and EVERYONE just goes freaking nuts.

Unfortunately, there wasn't too much in there. But I did find a few things. Check them out.

Today is April 14th and it is day 28. Let's see what I found this Saturday.

An assortment of things today. Including a lid for @fullcoverbetting.

These are Littlest Pet Shop things. This stuff was recently brought to my attention by my wife. She purchased a large lot from someone on Facebook marketplace for $25. We parceled it out and made some sweet bank from it.

So I have kept my eye out for them. The big house sells for about $30 by itself. With the two smaller ones and two figures, this lot should go for around $45-50.

A couple records today. If that Steely Dan one was a first pressing, it would go for over $100 - but it isn't so it won't. I can get $10-15 for each record.

I found a few sealed inks, only recently expired too. These will be an easy sell.

Then an audio book and a blank cassette for a future bundle.

Lastly, a vintage PC game that I had to rescue. It is from 1996.

This is the stuff I am keeping. I really have a lot of lids now.

Some sandpaper, always good to have.

A cabinet lock because I have little kids and my 1 year old loves to get the cans out. Now we can lock it up.

Lastly, sunglasses that go over glasses. I wear glasses and live in the desert, these might come in handy to keep in the car.

The Jillian Michaels DVD aren't big sellers, but I figure it is the time of year people are trying to get in shape for the summer and there was two of them for a little bundle.

The combat kettlebell DVD might be a good seller.

And Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 with the key.

I am surprised at how much these sunglass cases are selling for. Anyway, the season for them is coming around again.

Plus a big ass NERF gun. This is a motorized one that I need to test out, but it takes 6 C batteries and I only have 4 on hand. It actually had the batteries in it in the store, and since I was paying by weight I searched the bins for a screwdriver to open the thing up. I ended up finding the tiniest screwdriver ever, but it worked and I got those dead batteries out.

I found these Acurite weather devices during the "feeding frenzy" of the new bins being released. I thought there might be something to them, and so tossed them in my bag. They actually do alright.

I need to test them out, but those white remote looking things sells for over $10 each! I think I can make some good money from all this once I test them and clean them up.

Sales!

ZERO sales! What the heck? I got a ton of stuff listed and many watchers. Oh well, I guess my account didn't win the eBay lottery today and my listings were shown on the last page.

As always, tomorrow is a new day and a new thrift!

Follow me to see how much I can earn in 30 days from the Goodwill Outlet.

Sort:

Nice find on the LPS playset! I've found 2 of those in the last few months and sold them on Ebay for $22.50 in that condition. Pets can sell for a ton and I've found that even the common ones will bring in $2 each with bigger bundles the best way to sell them. I listed a huge lot last summer that I got for $5 and sold it for $150! They're one of those things I wish I could find all the time. lol

$22.50 plus shipping I hope!

Crazy how this is something so popular, haha.

Yes, sorry, this was just the sale price. They paid shipping on top of that. One person paid $7.50 and the other paid $24!!

A good trick to generate sales is to lower all of your fixed listings by a few pennies every few days. This sends a "PRICE LOWERED" alert to the watchers and others who viewed the page, and often gets a sale. I've done this for years and seen sales minutes after lowering prices on stagnant items from the "nudge".

Haha, I've been increasing it to get the sale!

Interesting about the lids. Are they big sellers ?? Also , my wife would like that kettle bell workout DVD as Iam sure others would as well. Pretty popular exercise

Anything you see here is also for sale for Steem/SBD. Let me know :D

Each day with more earnings. Im also doing this concept by posting everyday and earning some sbds and sps. last week, i got a profit of 15 sbds and 30 sps. this occured mostly due to the rise of steem and sbd in the market.

Jona, you are doing VERY well on your posts. Keep going!

Getting a real arsenal going with all these NERF guns! 6 C batteries is a lot though.

Yeah, and C's are not really used that much either.

since I was paying by weight I searched the bins for a screwdriver to open the thing up. I ended up finding the tiniest screwdriver ever, but it worked and I got those dead batteries out.

hahahahaha I would not have thought in taking the batteries out

6 C batteries is a decent amount of weight! Paying for nothing, really so best to take them out.

I see records at the goodwill all the time. How do you even know what they are worth?

eBay sold listings on my smartphone

2 more days to go! I hope you will be able to sell a lot but even you don’t reach the 1.5k, it is still impressive. Really going to mis these lids, euhm posts I mean!

Oh, in time it will reach $1.5K and beyond. It is just a tall order to expect it to sell in just 30 days from start to finish. Some things take weeks to get a buyer.

Very curious what the Nerf pile is going to bring in!
And we also may not forget the gold, which could easily break the 1.5K mark.

Yea, I got some flux and a ceramic disc for melting on the way to me. Add a little borax and heat to taste. A little backyard torching and we shall see what we got.

Make sure that you don’t put the house on fire!
