PROPOSAL: One week without selling STEEM and without Powering Down! Let's give STEEM a BOOST!

in #thegreencandle8 years ago (edited)

We are all here because we believe in this project! You and me are the individuals that are lucky enough to be already on Steemit and to use STEEM and SBD but watching the STEEM price going only down is demoralising.

The price is going down, the market cap is going down, the volume is going down. Is anybody doing something to stop this and to reverse this down trending? Today we will start doing something!

We know about the inflationary model of STEEM, it was discussed, it is in the Whitepaper, but for those that don’t know about it, looking at this “falling” market from outside does not produce any interest to invest.

What can we do?

The first thing we can do is to become STEEM ambassadors. To make it clear for uninitiated how this system works and to hope that many of the potential investors will understand.

The community rewarded already many great people for promoting Steemit. We are all upvoting Steemit ambassadors because we understand that we need them! But can we do more? We think WE can!

Benefits of trending up.

When one market is trending up you win exposure. Many people will take a look at your market to see why is it trending up. There are many potential investors out there that are waiting one sign to study our market.  By trending up you are advertising to new people that never heard or gave attention to your market, because they will try to understand the reason of your green bars from the market chart.

The Green Candle Project

Steemboost will try to create “The first community weekly green candle for STEEM” on the charts.  Yes, we will try to use the force of the Steemit users and to manipulate the price of STEEM!

Our idea is simple. Let’s create one big group of Steemit users that commit to follow just 3 rules:

1. To not power down for one week

2. To sell not STEEM but use it just for powering up

3. To buy as much STEEM as they can from the markets

We will promote this idea until 10 september 2016 and we want to start the real action on 11 september 2016. On 19 september 2016 we will see the result!

We need your feedback on this. Do you think we are crazy? Is this possible? Do you think we will be able to create that weekly green candle? Will you participate?

Please start talking about this and use #thegreencandle tag! Please upvote and comment on this post! (all the funds from this post will be used to buy STEEM and to power up for the green candle project)

Contact us on steemit.chat (@steemboost) and request us to add you in the #thegreencandle group!

We need your help to attract many  Steemit users.

Let’s give STEEM a BOOST!

Sort:

An artificial boost won't help Steem in the long run. It needs to succeed on it's own. I expect it will do just fine.

We know that! But are we strong enough as a community to do this? This can be one cool experiment! What if we can do it?

This can worth a try, but we need something more at a long-term. Steemboost was a step in the right direction.

How can you promote a platform? With happy users.

How can you have happy users? By rewarding their activities.

How can you reward their activities? LACK LACK LACK (like any social media).

Steemboost was the FIRST step into the world of article sharing, article promotion and so on. If that will work, we'll have a stronger community with stronger individuals willing to help the promotion of Steemit.

For example: would you promote steemit if your earnings stay as low as 0.50$/post? It would be nonsense in my country, for example, because you can get that amount of money from a lot of websites.

People don't always get the "coolest" part. But they get the exposure of their contents. So we can try to figure out how to give that exposure to them.

Hope that'll help :)

Maybe if we can do this for one week we will be able to do it again and again! Please don't mix #thegreencandle with steemboost.com here. These are 2 separate projects and ideas. Steemboost.com will soon come with one valuable improvement. Thank you for your interest!

I didn't "mix" them. I was trying to make my opinion valuable for the project.

You are the developer of a program which could help in the purpose of the article, so "improving the value of steem". So I just quoted it to let assume that in my opinion it was a starting point that could face the matter better than thegreencandle.

Also, thegreencandle is not for absolute beginners, since many of them don't know what Steem power is and how to power down. So I think it's a bit more complex.

Nothing to lose, anyway :) we can try :)

I already invest 100% into powering up and am a prolific author and curator. I'm doing my part, but good on you for rallying the troops.

Thank you @darknet! Do you think we can make #thegreencandle ?

I sure do!

A rising tied lifts all the boats

I'll continue to not power down or sell.

Great! The first subscriber to our initiative! We need more people like you!

I like it as an experiement. If it works many will want to sell at that point.

I already power up everything I get :)

The problem is steem need the support of steemit members, who are now less interested, as they see themselves spending valuable among of times writing good articles for 0 to a couple of cents, while the whales gobbled large trunks of dollars. The promise isn't materialising, hence there is a need for equilibrium in steemit or the steem will fail.

Exactly! Our initiative is to ask for that support to steemit members. But this time we are asking something else than writing good content and to promote to other users. Don't sell, just buy and power up. If enough users will do this, maybe we can get some attention from new investors. What do you think?

Most of them have nothing to power down. If they support you, whether it be true?
Do they get their profit?

I am with you on this project! I will not sell and I will stop right now my powering down! I would like to see all the minnows, dolphins and whales united at least for one week!

New to the site...I see that there is an exchange to transact between STEEM and STEEM DOLLARS. Having read through the whitepaper, I understand that STEEM is a short term cash-like variety of the currency that is subject to high inflation. My understanding is that STEEM DOLLARS are something like a convertible note...either convertible into STEEM (which looks like maybe that process takes a week?) or exchangeable immediately for STEEM via the exchange. I'm guessing that payouts on content generation and curation are made in STEEM DOLLARS? For what purpose do you need STEEM vs STEEM DOLLARS?

With respect to STEEM, is there then another exchange where that can then be traded for non-STEEM currencies, like BTC or USD?

Please confirm or refute my understanding. Again, I'm new to the concepts and trying to understand. Thank you!

You will find all your answers in this post. https://steemit.com/steem-help/@hisnameisolllie/accounting-in-steem-steem-dilution-why
You can trade STEEM and STEEM DOLLARS (SBD) on Poloniex and Bittrex exchanges.

I think the payouts are going to get smaller and smaller. The whales seem to be trying to spread their votes out a lot more. I'm still trying to come to grips with that. @ned upvoted my post today but put his slider at 3% so I only got a couple of bucks. I think that if the payouts continue to fall a lot of people will stop posting because they can't afford to spend the time with it or they don't feel it is worth it to do so. I'm personally still going strong and aware that the price might drop clear to $0.10 for Steem. In that scenario I will power up and others will take the opportunity to do so as well. It may never fall to that but I'm prepared if it does.

Good to know that you will not sell or power down! How can you help #thegreencandle project? Thanks.
