"It fits."
Surprised, but pleased, you slide it easily onto your finger, as if it were sized just for you.
You awaken suddenly. Your pain is gone. Your weariness is gone. You lie in a bed of damp leaves. It is dark. You hear the sounds of a forest at night. An owl hoots.
You notice the ring on your finger. It is the same as the ring in your dream, but it feels tight now. You try to take it off, but can't.
Behind you, you hear a voice, creaking and quiet, like the wind in the branches, but clear, "Do you take this forest, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?"
Crouching in the leaves, you twist your body to look behind you, and there you see a creature, not the same as the one before, but similar, with skin that looks like craggy bark. It gazes at you.
You've got a new fan!
