Introduction

First off, a special thank you to @cmp2020 for gifting me with a Steemit account (which had been left unused until now with my key list sitting in my drawer) almost 2 years ago on my birthday. He has repeatedly encouraged me to take part in #thediarygame, so I figured why not!

My Day

I woke up at 10AM so I could catch the second half of the Sheffield United vs. Newcastle game. For those unaware, they are football (soccer) teams that play in the top division football league in England, the Premier League. Anyways, I was excited for this game because I play Fantasy Premier League (FPL), and I have two players on Sheffield. However, my performance was dreadful as one of Sheffield's defenders got sent off for two yellow cards, which led to them ultimately losing 3-0. What made matters even worse for me was that one of my players didn't even start the game and came on as a second half sub but had little impact.

Toward the end of the game, I took a break to have breakfast. I'm not much of an morning eater, so I just had a bowl of chocolate granola cereal and a glass of milk (I don't like milk in my cereal. I'm weird, I know). After I ate breakfast, I watched the next Premier League game, Aston Villa vs. Chelsea. I wasn't really as invested into this game as the Sheffield game since I only had one player on my FPL team featuring in this match. Aston Villa scored a scrappy goal from a set piece at the end of the first half, but Chelsea rebounded in the second half to score two goals in a three-minute period. I was ecstatic when Chelsea scored the equalizer because the scorer was Christian Pulisic, a young American phenom who is the future of the U.S. Men's National Team (USMNT).

As soon as the game ended, I went upstairs to take a shower, brush my teeth, and do the rest of my morning routine. It was a little past 1PM, so I decided to have lunch. I'm not really a picky eater, so I had a turkey sandwich on sourdough bread, which is what I normally have for lunch on most days. At 2PM, my dad came into the family room to watch the Merseyside Derby (the Everton vs. Liverpool game) with me. For context, a derby is a football match between two local rivals; in the case of the Merseyside derby, it is when both teams from the city of Liverpool play. Liverpool is my dad's favorite team because he is a huge Beatles fan, and the Beatles are from the city (ironically, the members of the Beatles weren't huge football fans but were supposedly Everton supporters). I watched the entire game with my dad, but it was a largely uneventful 0-0 draw. Liverpool only needed six more points before the game to win the Premier League title, and a win today would've put them one win away from achieving this, but they had to settle for one point.

The rest of my day was pretty uneventful. I helped my dad with some yard work after the game. Our backyard was recently lawn-mowed, so we had to rake and bag up the dead grass (a not-so-fun activity for me since my seasonal allergies have been bothering me a lot this summer). At 7PM, I joined the rest of my family for dinner. Yesterday, we ordered carry out from a local Italian restaurant, so tonight entailed finishing our leftovers. I had the rest of my house salad (with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dressing) and two slices of margherita pizza. Around 8PM, I collected garbage and took out the trash since garbage collection in my neighborhood happens each week on Monday mornings.

I will try to do a diary post daily (to appease @cmp2020), but we shall see. Until next time!

Hi @jmor welcome to steemit! I love watching football when I was in my teen back then, I used to stay up late until 3am just to watch their live match because of the difference in the timezone. I particularly have a crush on Fernando Torres that played for Liverpool last time. Now I couldn't afford to spend that much time watching the game anymore. Hopefully, someday I could watch the game again when I have more time to leisurely spend on. Keep on steeming!

Finally, a fellow Premier League fan! Nice to meet you @cryptokannon. Fernando Torres was an amazing striker during his prime at Liverpool and during the Spanish National Team's dominant era from 2008-2012. I always copied his celebration whenever I scored a goal in rec soccer lol. It's a shame that he succumbed to the Chelsea striker curse.
