What are your thoughts of Orange is the New Black S5? - Might contain spoilers
As a loyal Orange is the New Black-fan, I bingewatched the last season in a couple of days.
The fifth season finally came out on June 9th and filled our hearts with our beloved and not so beloved OITNB cast. (Gloria fangirl here).
The fourth season ended with Daya holding the gun, a riot about to start and people screaming at her to shoot that piece-of-shit guard. The fifth season basically revolves around this riot which - obviously - brings a lot of new and existing drama to the screen.
Comparing this season to the other's, I found it actually pretty entertaining. It consisted of a new bad guy which gives you a heartache and cringes of nervousness - simiar to what we experienced when Pennsatucky went all Jesus Christ Superstar on Piper in the first season. It basically freaks you out. Also the amount of humor was a pleasant surprise. Though this season I found a couple of characters beyond annoying: Leanne, Angie and Suzanne.
Basically, I wanted to share a couple of my thoughts in non-chronological order:
- JUST TAKE THE DAMN DEAL TAYSTEE;
- Baxter, get over yourself. What did you expect?
- No one got mad at Suzanne over Poussey though?
- Die, Piscatella;
- Nicky is good for you, Lorna. Open your eyes man;
- Gloria <3
- Flaritza yesssssss;
- I would've loved a bigger role for Sophia this season;
- Aleida, wtf;
- Black Cindy yo :D
- Abdullah <3
- Caputo is still in my book of good;
- I loved that
- Maria, you sneaky, pretty asshole;
- Flores, you done good. I love that she had a bigger role;
- lol dat Frieda.
Also, my reaction to the season's ending:
WHAT ARE FUCK ARE YOU SERIOUS WHY WHAT THE FUCK I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT AND THIS IS HOW YOU END IT

Gotta say i liked the first 4 Seasons more than the 5th. Saw Ep1-10 in one Day when they got leaked and just yesterday saw Ep11-13. Yeah what a bummer, maybe expected too much of it. If i would have payed to see this id feel ripped off, especially if theres a week between two episodes like for most ppls who dont know how to download stuff off the Internets or can stream it from somewhere else than on Netflix. Thank God im no Mainstreamer LOL ;-)

Yes, I heard about the leaking - however I have made a pact with myself that I bingewatch the crap out of OITNB and that would break it if I had seen most of the season already!
I am good with Netflix - I am paying nothing since I am still using my ex's account (hehe).

Yeah Season 1 was awesome too, dindt feel like quality was going down the followup Seasons.

You mean, this season was weird?
Oh yes! It got way too fanciful after the inmates took over the prison and it was inter-cutting too many damn stories along with a serial killer vibe thrown in. Too much!
I actually liked it! However, I did not expect the riot to be taking so long and was kind of waiting for it to be over.
I don't think in any case it will take 4 days for a team to come inaction.

Same feeling there, i asked myself at some point how many days is this story supposed to be stretched out? Felt like seeing a week passing by or so, when really this would have been a matter of Hours in reality. But i kinda like that the story wasnt soo much only about Piper anymore. Finding some of the other Characters way better than her. Also that evolving of Piper, i saw beeing stopped somehow; compared to season 1 shes really just another inmate now & the others may be more interesting than her. Those culture shock moments whee gone i find.
Season 5 has been my favorite season so far. I didn't care for season 4, so I was glad to see Season 5 wasn't as dark as Season 4. I enjoyed seeing the women with more autonomy in this season after seeing the last.
The characters in this show are the best. I wanted to see more of Sophia too! I didn't hate Piper this season like I usually do, and Piper and Alex being endgame was unexpected but it was cute. And Flaritza were one of my faves this season, the selfie stick with the plunger had me rolling.
I hated the ending though! I'm hoping no one gets killed. Uggghhh the agony of waiting.

Piper annoyed the shit out of me in previous seasons. Her getting it with Alex did not surprise me, but it came out of nowhere though. Not sure if it's an addition to the story.
I loved the fact that they made it less about Piper and more about everyone. It makes everything a lot more interesting. I do agree, that coming into the prison and following Piper was a great entry though.
I loved Flaritza and I've always been a fan of Gloria. The ending was heartbreaking indeed..
