Are You Ready For Your Alter-AI Ego?

in #technology6 years ago

This is going to have huge implications on the world of business and commerce.

We are seeing a paradigm shift presently that is laying the foundation that is going to change the world. So many of our technological advancements are converging. This means that, in a decade, a lot of what is presently done will no longer operate in the same manner.

Most of us are aware of the emergence of bots. This is something that is only going to progress forward as machine learning keeps expanding. Certain jobs are already at risk such as customer service representatives.

At the same time, we are seeing systems that are learning everything we do. While many view this as a bad thing, from a technological standpoint, it will be amazing for humanity. What is going to determine how things unfold is who is in charge.

AI is going to be controlled by someone. Forget the Skynet scenarios. That is not how machines operate, at least for the next few decades. Besides, intelligence is often not the one in charge. Look at most managers. They have the control yet rarely do they have the intelligence. Usually the people working for that person tend to be smarter.

When it comes to AI, specifically your personalized AI, who is in control of it is vital. At present, we see the likes of Google, Microsoft, and Amazon laying claim to your data. This is a very dangerous thing. If your AI is controlled by corporations who have interests other than your own, it could be catastrophic. For this reason, projects such as Singularitynet are so important. This is an organization that is committed to keep AI open.

We are going to see a day when machine learning advances to the point where all of us are developers. Under this scenario, we will tell our phone (or whatever device is used) what we want and a program will be coded for us. This means that creating our own personalized AI will be within our ability. It is here that we see where an alter-ego arises.

This intelligence will learn all about us. Hence, a great many of the mundane things we do will be handled by the "assistant". This brings up major issues for an industry such as advertising; watch out Google and Facebook.

Advertising was instantly changed with the development of blockchain and cryptocurrency. Even though we have not seen it yet, there is going to be a day where the platforms are removed (the middlemen) in favor of direct contact. This means that advertisers will pay individual via a cryptocurrency to view their ads. If you choose to watch or read an advert, you will be compensated.

This is only a transition phase. When we get to the place where AI assistants are ordering things for us, advertising is basically finished. The area where computers excel over humans is in processing data. An assistant of this sort has the ability to make a purchase based upon our likes, cost, health benefits, availability, and fit into an overall budget. Whatever the parameters, it can scour the cyberworld to meet our needs. In fact, for most regular items, it will do this automatically without our asking.

Which brings up the point of advertising. There is no point to it. Our AI assistant is not going to watch a bunch of ads. It does not care. This is going to radically alter an industry that is over $500B a year. It will be able to process all the information about every product in a particular category to determine what best meets our personal needs.

And this is how your refrigerator and cupboards will be able to order your groceries for you.

Picture a day where you do not care about any advertisements since you do not need the information. Your AI assistant will be the one to gather all the data for you. The only decision we have to make is for the non-ordinary purchases .

The next 10-15 years will make Google ads seem as foreign as scenes from Mad Men.

It is also one of the main reasons why decentralization is so important. We need to control these systems in our lives, not corporations who have interests that are far different from our own.

Yes, technology is changing our lives at a mind boggling rate. Simpletons like me are already finding it so hard to keep up now. In 10 years time, we will be left far, far behind.

The fortunate thing is you are aware of it and the fact that things can change. Simply starting to follow it will give you a major leg up. Plus you are on STEEM which means you embraced one of the biggest technological changes that is taking place.

A lot of the changes will be back end meaning people will not have to worry about it other than adopting it. 5G is a prime example. So is blockchain to a degree. People log onto a site, they dont care that it is blockchain or not.

Thank you for your words of encouragement. Yes, Guess I just have to keep up as best I can. Cheers! :-)

I can’t wait until I can stumble into my car half asleep and take a nap to work as my self driving car drives itself for me!

Why will you have to go to work?

I’d like to think Steemit and crypto will help me retire young, but I don’t want to be presumptuous!

Very nice read here. Thanks for those i sights.

I never thought it this deep. Nevertheless, I believe IA(Intelligent Augmentation) will be a better option God-willing.

That's a very good point you made about advertising.

But shopping is not a chore but a process to be enjoyed to a lot of people. I do agree that advertising revenue will take a huge hit from bots ordering a lot of the mundane stuff for us. But advertising won't die completely. I've seen too many people who love the shopping too much.

I agree, what a great post and my thoughts on this subject are the same. Blockchain and Decentralized are my two favorite words these days and their is nothing that is going to stop AI from coming.... Thanks, good read.... 100% upvote for this read.....

"your refrigerator and cupboards will be able to order your groceries for you"

I hope my refrigerator and cupboards are smarter than me, as I usually fill them with pizza and chocolate bars.

Seriously though, I welcome the day manipulative advertising ends, and personalized AI begins. :)

Yes, AI is profoundly changing our world. Upvoted! Thank you for sharing this, @taskmaster4450

totally agree.the emergence of AI will be game changing.
