Nathan Stubblefield born on November 22, 1860, was a farmer and an American inventor born in Murray Kentucky. He is known for his wireless telephone work and In 1902 he gave a public demonstration and showed how his battery operated wireless telephone system worked (which he had perfected 10 years earlier) and showed how it could be transported to different locations and used on different mobile platforms such as boats.
In 1908 he received a U.S. patent for a wireless telephone system that used magnetic induction. He was unsuccessful in getting his inventions off of the ground and it's said that another inventor A. F. Collins stole most of Nathan's inventions and filed for patents because he had the money and Nathan didn't. He died 1928 a broken man and penniless

Nathan Stubblefield died bitter because he discovered the world of shrewd business men and other more notable inventors of his time like Alexander Graham bell, Nikola Tesla, and A. F. Collins who stole his work and had the money to patent his ideas. At the same time, Nathan was a kind and compassionate person who loved to teach and spread his knowledge to people who sought him out. The basic points I gathered from his story is that the big companies and big names kept him down and because they looked at him as a farmer they took advantage of him and his naivety. They took his ideas and patented them while giving him no credit and leaving him a broken man. It is truly a sad story but history has a way of coming full circle and lately, he has been getting the recognition he deserves.

Well this was a great post @road2wisdom, I had not heard of this guy at all !! Tesla ofcourse, as he has become quite a name since at least the last ten years internet wise, but this guy still is under the radar !! Pretty impressive no to have taken the already for the time, ground breaking telephone a step further by inventing the first portable radiowave transmission device !! Pretty ingenious and mindblowing technology for sure ! ! Sad to think that both he and Tesla died similar penniless and miserable deaths, as indeed that they were both robbed of their genius by the unscrupulous wheeler dealers sorts such as Collins and the disgusting Edison in Tesla,s case !!

Farmers are some of the kindest, and most intuitive people I know. My cousins are always coming up with ingenious inventions on the farm. Nice to see Mr. Stubblefield receiving credit for the hard work he put in.
