Smart watches are the norm these days. If you don't own one, you're probably paleolitic. (You may need time travel to get you back to the 21st century.)

In case you were wondering what exactly a smart watch is, it's simply a wearable computer in the form of a wristwatch. Early models of these tech wonders came in basic forms, just like their elder brothers (computers) did. They performed basic functions such as calculations, digital clocks and simple computer games.

Smartwatches today have however taken a broader approach in terms of functionality and can pretty much do the complex tasks that a PC would do.

I like to see the first feature of a smartwatch as its great ability to make you look cool in whatever outfit you choose to rock. In an instant you get transformed from an unattractive dork to a sleek, tech savvy personality, something that will boost your self confidence in ways you can only imagine.

But away from that, since 2010 when the wave of smartphones hit stores and the general public, smartwatches have taken a more grand stand in the affairs of men. Smartwatches now perform functions of mobile phones, and run mobile apps on up-to-date mobile operating systems. These kind of watches are commonly called "watchphones" in the tech world cos of thier complete functionality of a smartphone. All these are stuff we only saw in James Bond 007 movies back in the days.

These days, when taking your early morning or late evening jog, you don't need to strap on those bulky media players which the world used to think were cool. A modern smartwatch will conveniently run you fitness tracker app while delivering music to your ears via Bluetooth headphones.

For business people and those who interact on the go, I'd probably say the smartwatch is one invention to have in thier inventory. Why? It allows you access your emails on the go, wherever you are. The notification pop-ups make sure you never miss an email or sms, and most come with the ability to read the headings of mails.

Most smartwatches come in backlit LCD or OLED or Hologram to deliver crisp visual display. Some use transflective or electronic paperas these make these world wonders to consume less power. Most have a rechargeable battery and many have a touchscreen.

Peripheral devices may include digital cameras, thermometers, accelerometers, pedometers, heart rate monitors, altimeters, barometers, compasses, GPS receivers, tiny speakers, and SD card. Talk about stuff to make your life easier 😉.
