Unlock the Power of Chrome

Google Secrets

In couple of my past posts I have been covering "secret" benefits you get just by having a Gmail account. The first post was about the Google Keep app, and the second one was about the Google Voice app. I then followed those posts up by covering Google Opinions Rewards. Over the next week or so, I would like to step away from the apps available to you by having a Gmail account, and focus on what I feel is the key thing you can do to power up the Google Chrome browser.

Power Up

Several years ago when Chrome was released it was just your standard browser. It had benefits over Internet Explorer and Firefox, but for the most part it was just a basic tool to access the Internet. These days though, Chrome has become infinitely more powerful (heck it's even an operating system). I feel there is one little addition that has opened up a world of possibilites with Chrome. This improvement they have made seems so simple, but in the end it is such a huge power up for your browser that it deserves a second look.

and this is how to find it:

Sometime when you are in Chrome open a new tab. It should take you to a screen that has a link to the Chrome Web Store. This is where the true power lies... Yes I am talking about Extensions.

Here's my Plan

Over the next couple of weeks, every other day I am going to highlight one of my favorite Chrome Extensions. I am going to start on Sunday the 4th and spotlight my first extension. This isn't a one way street though! I want to hear from you as well. Got an extension you love? Write me a comment here and tell me about it. I might just check it out and cover it in one of my posts.

If I get some great extensions, I will give you a shout-out, a follow, and a resteem of one of your current posts. This post is part of project I am doing for #dolphinschool so if you or your comment is featured in my post, you may get some extra visibility to the many people that are participating and following. Let's share the Chrome Extension love and get everyone powering up their browsers!

Sort:

Im not sure if you'd consider them plug-ins or extensions, but Adblocker (or ypur preferred extension) and Ghostery would be the first two I would discuss.

Yes, Adblocker is for sure on my list! Thanks for the comment. I haven't used Ghostery, but I will be looking into it now. Thank you!

We are working on getting a laptop for my Steemit adventure... and I think you’re right about Chrome. I’ll be using Chrome a lot on my computer. This article will need to be resteemeed so I can keep it in my line of sight ! I’ll wanna see those next articles about the extensions!!
It’s spongetime in #dolphinschool !! I’m soaking up all this info!!

@jeejee

Awesome! Sounds like a great idea to get a machine you can dedicate solely to Steemit. I use all of the browsers for different things, but Chrome really is my favorite. I hope to have lots of good stuff for you in the future! Thanks for the comment.

Really looking forward to it!

I really love enjoy using chrome, have installed it in all my devices as it allows me to easily pick up from any device anytime.
At times I find too many extentions slow down the browser, or is it just me?

Yes. I think sometimes it can. I have seen some people get pretty crazy with the number of extensions in their browser. A lot of it depends on whether it is an extension vs an app, and what it does. Thanks for the comment!

Damn, this is good, i don't use extensions but i could try

Nice use of engagement, I just downloaded SteemPlus, which is what @markrmorrisjr is using to profit share with #dolphinschool participates.

I like to keep my Chrome extension usage down to a minimum, but one that I find indispensable is something called "Session Buddy".

Not sure about others but I always seem to have way too many tabs open, which take their toll on resources. With Session Buddy, you can organise certain tabs you keep open at the same time into"sessions", and open/close them as needed. I have a session for my cryptotrading, a Steemit session, a writing session, and an art session.

Very, very useful! =)

Thanks for the comment! I will check that one out. It sounds like a real game changer for folks that have a lot of tabs open at once.

You'll see, it'll change your life ;P

If you haven't seen my post for this lesson yet, go check it out... There are two special "offers" you might be interested in if you like art =) (It my latest one, entitled "Lend Me Your Senses and Prepare to be Amazed!")

NICE! This is a good looking post, you had my attention, because the latest versions of Firefox are biting it and I've switched to Chrome. So, I'm in! You are sowing seeds into your future posts, by giving people a vested interest in sticking around to see if they get mentioned, well done. Critique, you are missing an "a" in your first paragraph, and another further down. yep, super picky, huh? LOL Also, you could break up your big paragraphs to give more white space, just a smidge and I think the eye would travel down the page easier. Resteeming this one. Nicely done, keep it up!

Awesome! Thanks for the input. I really appreciate the feedback! I will try to apply the critique on my next next post.

Hey, @bozz for anyone writing content (especially on #steemit) they should install the Grammarly extension. Very awesome because even though Chrome does spell check it doesn't check the commas and such.

Great post and keep the tips coming.

Thanks, that one is already on my list too, but I will make sure I give you a shout-out when I cover it. Thanks for the comment!

That’s awesome thanks
