My Fat Factor

in #teammalaysia7 years ago (edited)

Coming back to health and slimming, these has been my major concern since 2013. I've been trying hard to lose some weight due to health issues. Those who haven't know me, I was a fat bastard given 5`6 height with a 90kg weight.

Today I'm on leave, going for a charity event which later I will blog about it. Woke up early in the morning, prep kids to school, and here I am sitting at the mamak shop having my coffee.

As I was grinding through the menu board, I realized there's nothing much I "wish" to eat anymore. Mostly because of the health conscious mind developed over the years. All these starchy stuff has been put behind myself. Not that I can't eat them, especially roti banjir with a stack of papadam on top, with a little bit of sambal. I will still do it once in awhile. Especially nasi lemak bungkus with a boiled eggs.

As in why? I don't know. Every time when food served in front of me, the first thing that came in mind is the calories count. Followed by nutrition value. And finally how much can I burn and will take how long for these to go away.

A typical 300gm portion of nasi lemak bungkus has about 500kcal of energy. It usually has a small amount of protein, consist of ikan bilis, ⅛ of a boiled eggs, roasted peanuts, and the entire protein count is about ⅛ of a whole package of nasi lemak. Let's break it down further, the coconut fragrant rice are cooked with coconut milk, that gave a touch of nice pandan+ginger smell to the rice itself. So good, you can even eat the rice on its own.

Here's the problem. This whole package of energy food is simple carbohydrates. As soon as we consume, the first effect it gave to our brain is, make us feel good and happy. And after that, our body will be overwhelmed by sugar rush, blood glucose level increase. Our pancreas will have to work hard to produce insulin to counter excessive of sugar, in order to maintain tolerable sugar level. Now what happened to those sugar that has been collected by the insulin? Next big thing is, if you remember how to garbage truck going over the street and collecting dump, it compress and store it further into the truck body, just like how our body store fat at our stomach.

Back to the basic, how much can we burn. These 25k steps will probably burn about 1500kcal. Thays barely enough to offset a breakfast and lunch. How about dinner? Here's why we having a hard time to lose weight. We have been consuming way too much calories and our body has got not enough time to expel them off. The easier way to get rid of excessive weight begin from the input, not output. You can do whatever exercises you want, but you're not going to slim down if you don't control your diet. 6 pack ab begin with the kitchen. The ultimate challenge is what we eat.

Hope you have a wonderful breakfast. Enjoy good food, but watch your portion.

every morning drinks oat, add some lecithin you will become thin! Lol!! Add some chia seed too.
Add more water to dilute. Then won't sticky.
But some ppl just hate the sticky oat....

  • I will show my healthy oat next time. Watery type.

I'm serious, oats every morning as first meal.
" never know you are fat uncle " :p

How about I cook soup more often? Soup don't have carbo right???

Frankly speaking, Malaysia's foods are mostly high carbohydrates, high sugar level and low proteins. So, it's quite hard for us to maintain our body weight, if we consume these foods daily.

Unless, you have the determination not to consume them daily, @davidke20 Anyhow, I wish you all the best for your 6 pack abs journey :)

Check out the great posts I already resteemed.

It must be hard to diet in Malaysia. I've spent a while there on several occasions and thoroughly enjoyed the sheer range of food available.

Yes indeed. Crazy to stop eating good food here. Set aside nutritional value, taste marvelously good.

AHAHA Nasi lemak telur mata just now... yum yum :P Best way to start the week.
