Bangkok are you ready for some fire???
Hey party people, looking for the best jazz bar in Bangkok? Hopefully, we can help you with this one. We have visited the finest ones, and here we will get them all “exposed.” Anyway, this is our third outstanding jazz bar from Bangkok. First is the Bamboo Bar, situated in the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok Hotel, which holds the golden standard of sophistication. Second is the Woodshed Bar, which is a trendy instagrammable hotspot. Today we are talking about Red Rose Jazz Bar, located in the heart of Bangkok’s Chinatown, where people get drawn in, straight from the streets. This one has something different; it has the groove!
Ambiance
Early 20th-century western style meets corky Chinatown to please all the wealthy and influent Chinese people here around. Hollywood lights, black and white tiles, industrial finishes with a lot of shine and details are a guarantee for a unique feel. Still, this is Bangkok, and the easygoing vibe is also present. Basically, it is an open space where you can see directly from the street. Once you hear the live tunes, you’ll what to come closer. Do as your heart pleases and take a seat at the Shanghai Terrace.
Music
Jazz rhythms called us from the other side of the street like light attracts moths. Holly crap, it was a one-man-band, playing about 5 or 6 instruments and knowing most of the classics. Later there was another trio, which was fabulous as well. At some point, the music changed to a bit more modern beats, but still with excellent performance.
Red Rose Jazz Bar Menu
This place is packed! They bring round some dusty cocktails like “the fiery” Lamborghini, which is great to see live. Well, at least the proper version, where the whole bar is on fire. Anyway, on their menu, you will find a wide range of cocktails and spirits such as Gin, Rum, and several Whiskies and Chinese spirits, including rice whiskey.

On the menu of the Red Rose Jazz Bar is also a nice wine selection from all around the world. In case you are looking for something without alcohol, then check their mocktails, iced teas, smoothies, and fresh juices. We have indulged their mocktails when we had dinner there.

Our Drinks
Zhulong
The Zhulong cocktail is a mixed drink with a historical name, which belongs to the giant dragon. This might be the reason that this cocktail comes with the fire. Nothing outrageous, just enough to burn the cloves on the orange peel. From here on the garnish becomes part of the cocktail, giving it the smoky aroma.
Later you can adjust the drink and let the garnish swim in it if you want. That way, you’ll spice up the tasty mixture of gin, plum wine and tonic. Sipping on the Zhulong unveils star anise, cinnamon and vanilla with bitters and some bubbles.
Red District
The Red District cocktail is literally red, thanks to the watermelon juice. Looks blend into the taste putting the watermelon in front. Additions of the sour mix, sprite, and mint only make it more refreshing and keep the watermelon juice feeling fresh. Also, the three years aged SangSom, Thai’s favorite rum, fits in perfectly.
Chinatown
It smells like gingerbread, but it doesn’t taste anything like it. It is more herbal and smooth on the way down, because of the herbed syrup. We almost didn’t feel the alcoholic punch of Fen Chiew vodka. Not surprisingly, since it is known for its refreshing, smooth taste. Still, we’d say it’s more of a manly drink with citrusy feel that comes from a lime.
Shanghai Mojito
This is an enriched classic Mojito with a splash of Tayler Port, the famous sweet red wine from Portugal. The Port not only adds some of its fruity sweetness but also connects with rum when it comes to Port’s caramel and chocolate characteristics. In case all of the above sounds too sweet, keep in mind that juicy limes can add some extra juice if needed it.
Food
Grooving around and sipping cocktails has its price – starvation. Luckily here you will easily find delicious food to complement those cocktails, no matter what. They serve classic snacks, Chinese classics, bar bites, and more refined dishes. We were smart enough to start the evening with dinner. As you know, the solid base is a key to enjoying yourself with a drink in your hand. In case you are wondering how is food here, check our Red Rose Restaurant Review.
Conclusion
The jazz lounge occupies an open-air terrace with a front-row view of the lively Yaowarat Road. Most of the visitors come just like we did – “waw, look at that.” The music at Red Rose Jazz Bar Bangkok is vibrant, well-performed, and enjoyable. Well, I wouldn’t mind if there would be more proper “Shanghai shuffle” high society jazz music with the beat, but I understand the circumstances. Not so few people turn in here to have some good times, not all for the music.
Luckily owners know how to find that great middle line and please both parties. We jazz lovers, cocktail lovers, and hedonists alike can enjoy side by side with the tourists, who are looking for a place to have a quick cold beer. Recommended!
Price
Red Rose Jazz Bar Bangkok is situated in the middle of Chinatown. On average you should expect the price of cocktails at the Red Rose Bar to be just under 10 USD.

Very impressive and incredibly inviting. The atmosphere is probably quite amazing.
Ou yes, the design let's you bee part of the street and at the same time safely tucked away with live music and full mouth. I guess it's just as contrasting as the Bangkok city itself.
