TacoCat's TrEats #45: Souflufféy pancakes 🥞

Hey Steemit!

Even though I'm a night owl, my favourite meal of the day is definitely breakfast because I absolutely looove breakfast food! Waffles, pancakes, eggs, bacon, toast - I love 'em all! And that's precisely why I chose this contest today!

Anyway, the restaurant I want to share today is called Hoshino Coffee! Sean actually introduced it to me when we went to try it in Singapore waaay back in 2014!

I really liked their soufflé pancakes so when we went to Tokyo and came across their outlet in Harajuku, we decided to try it out!

So Hoshino Coffee is a Japanese-Western fusion style of cafe-restaurant. From the interior to the menu, it's definitely Japanese fusion. Hoshino Coffee is probably most popular for their hand-dripped coffee, with coffee beans specially selected by their coffee blend specialist. But they have a pretty wide selection of food and desserts as well; ranging from rice dishes and spaghetti mains to french toast and (my favourite) souffle pancakes!

The interior of the restaurant has a general warm atmosphere, with mostly dark colours, giving it that cozy, cabin-like ambience.

Their menu is in English and is pretty clear, with plenty of pictures which are quite faithful to the real deal, so you'll know what to expect. They even have a message informing customers who want to order the souffle that they'll have to wait: "As we bake our souffle fresh, please allow approximately 20 minutes of waiting time upon orders."

So if you're just having the pancakes, be prepared to wait. But no worries, it'll be worth it when your pancakes arrive fresh and warm.

The first time we ate at Hoshino Coffee in Harajuku, we ordered a basic souffle pancake, and one topped with bananas and vanilla ice cream, drizzled with chocolate sauce.

It was absolutely delicious! Crispy on the outside, fluffy and slightly moist on the inside. It's what I imagine the perfect souffle pancake to be. We finished it up real quick since it's only perfect when it's warm.

The first time we went to this outlet was in December 2015, but we did go back to Hoshino Coffee in Japan another time in Aug 2016, right in the middle of summer.

We ordered a different pancake this time, along with the basic one. The pot-baked souffle looked really interesting so we decided to try it!

This was kinda what I expected from hearing the word "souffle" the first time; it being served in the little ceramic bowl. This one was really cool because it had custard inside and came up with either custard or chocolate sauce.

The chocolate was straight up Hershey's chocolate sauce but it tasted really good with the souffle! The crispiness was just a thin layer compared to the basic souffle pancake, but it was still tasty nonetheless.

If you love pancakes, I'd definitely recommend Hoshino Coffee's souffle pancakes!
