London Duck Zi Char

When friends first suggested dining at London Duck, I wasn't keen. The impression I got was that it is a restaruant from London specialising in duck. And as far as I know, people don't usually associate duck dishes with London.

Anyway, one day we were wondering around the mall, looking for some food, when we came upon this London Duck Zi Char. Only then did I realize that London Duck is just the name and has nothing to do with London. Apart from their roast meat which is their speciality, they also do Zi Char - a local term meaning to cook by frying.

The menu looked interesting, so we decided to give it a try.

This is a combo dish of roast duck, roast pork and barbecue pork. It was absolutely fabulous. I highly recommend this. This is also their house speciality.

This is a simple dish of Fench beans stir fried with dried prawns and salted fish. It is one of the more popular local dishes. It was really good. The beans were young and crunchy, the dried prawns and salted fish enhanced the taste.

This is another popular local dish - stir fried Kai Lan with garlic. The Kai Lan were very tender and they were fried just right.

The vegetables might look plain and nothing special, but trust me, they were delicious.

They have also other items on the menu for a simple meal. If you were on your own, and you just want a quick meal, you can go for any of these.

Hey, Vincent.

Can't say I've eaten much duck. I understand it's a little more greasy than chicken might be? Regardless, all the meat and the vegetables looked good. I'm not sure about fish tasting green beans, but I would like to try them.

I'm glad it turned out good. The worst would be to have your suspicions confirmed, having felt or known it was going to turn out that way and wasting your money and never satisfying your appetite. :)

Hi Glen,

Yes, duck dishes are not a western thing. Asians eat a fair amount of ducks. And yes, it is a bit more greasy than chicken and the meat is tougher too. The vegetables are very good too. 😊

I have learned not to have expectations, or to peg my expectations a degree or two lower. That is why I am presently surprised again and again. 😊

Have a great weekend!

?? Is it not call Centerpoint any more?

well well well...now you're a restaurant critic I see. Hey can you send some of that BBQ over here so I can see if it measures up?

It's easy to criticize isn't it? The meat will be off by the time they reach you. Nah, you have to come here and try them yourself.

Easy to criticize? yes it sure is, that's why I never do it. I don't take the easy way out. lol.

Of course. Jonboy, the gentleman redneck never criticize. That would be too ungentlemanly. 😂

Very true. Well, I tease a great deal but that is different from criticizing. It's too dangerous on here to take a chance of upsetting the wrong people! So I try not to tease people unless I know they have a sense of humor such as the honorable sir Vincent!

Life would be very dull for you if you hadn't found me to tease. 😂

lol..yes I'm very thankful sir Vincent, thanks again!
