Zamcaffe (Den Haag, Netherlands): A Tasteem Review
Zamcaffe is a newly opened coffee shop that serves up a light lunch and also various desserts in the Italian style.... and by newly open, I really mean in the last couple of months!
I frequent another coffee shop/icecream bar down the road quite often... but I was curious to see what this place was like as well... and so one day, I dropped in to check it out!
The Space
There are some seats in the front (see the top photo) for outdoor seating, but it does get quite a bit of full sun in the afternoons (at least when I was there...), personally I prefer a little bit of shade, but each to their own!
The indoors is cool and not too bright, with a nice modern decor. When I was there, I found myself a nice quiet table at the back of the coffee bar to enjoy my dessert and coffee whilst reading.
The Menu
Well, there is a light lunch menu... however, I wasn't there for that. I was there for coffee and something sweet. For that, you can just order at the bar and look at the selection of cakes and sweets... all in the Italian style. Everything did look quite enticing, so it was a touch difficult to settle on a single thing...
The Food
I love Lemon pies... and lemon merangue is my all time favourie. This Lemon pie didn't have the merangue, but it was really quite stunningly good. Creamy, and not too sweet (and not too sour)... it was a delight to eat. The sort of thing that you just slowly take your time with...
Now, this is a coffee bar... so you would hope that the coffee is decent!... Cappucino is my go-to coffe type, and this was a good one, so that is a nice surprise as it can be tricky to find good coffee. When you know a place, it is something to remember for the next time that you are in the neighbourhood!
The Experience
When I went, it was really quite newly opened, and so it had the advantage of being nice and quiet. Now, when I walk past... there are a few more people but it isn't packed, which makes for a nice atmosphere.
Drop in for a light lunch or a dessert and coffee... or both, this is definitely a keeper for me!

Just like you, I love cafes which are not crowded so that I can relax and enjoy whatever I am having. That lemon pie does looks really good, now I am craving for it. Good review!
Thanks! Quiet and relaxed cafes with good food and coffee are a rare thing... once the word gets out, they get too busy!
I love new coffee shops! I follow a number of coffee-flavoured (hah!) accounts on Instagram and the number of fascinating coffee shops they find is amazing. I very recently looked into the possibility of starting a mobile coffee service with a tricycle (like this one: https://icetrikes.com/mobile-coffee-business/coffee-bikes-for-sale/) for my son. I still might if he graduates high school and doesn't go to college!
I've seen a few of those mobile coffee places... mostly on little vans though... I don't think I've seen a bike one. Seems like a cool idea though, but in summer an ice-cream trike might be more in demand!
