Taking a walk will always reward you in some way. Take a walk with curious eyes and you might even discover nice little surprises, things of beauty or character, that just linger there, on the side of the road, waiting to be discovered.}

Today I want to show you another beautiful discovery I made recently while walking through my urban backyard.

Nested onto the ledge of this red-bricked wall, surrounding an old factory building, a small plant has grown. Digging it's roots into the wall, somehow surviving.

The low hanging winter sun on this cold and clear day was drawing clear shadows of its sharp thorned branches onto the brick wall.

Like a testament to nature's determination, this little shrub has conquered the most unlikely spot. I should check back once spring has arrived. Some fresh green leaves unfolding from these branches and this image could be even more intense!
