Dear art-fans,

this years documenta is slowly coming to an end. For this I want to show you some more artworks, that moved me in one way or another.

Todays post deals with the works of swiss artist Miriam Cahn, who got a whole room in the documenta-Halle.

She already had been invited to documenta7 in 1982, but decided to quit, after -in contrary to former agreements- pictures of another artist had been hung side by side to her works. She really has some courage to cancel a show like this, but now she's back.

The installation of 23 artworks is titled

"KOENNTEICHSEIN"

("could be me")

Liebe Kunstfans,

"KOENNTEICHSEIN"

The artist deals with topics like aggression, violence, sexuality and identification in her works. In an interview with german radio station Deutschlandfunk Kultur she explaines, how she's handling the current news-situation through her works.

"'couldbeme' is meant quite literally [...], it could happen to me, that I have to flee, for example. It could also happen, that I become aggressive or bash someone or something like that. It's an approach to what's happening today."

Personally I was mostly impressed by those paintings of "veiled nudes". Partly, because they're provoking and partly because they expose, that appearances doesn't tell much about the people behind it.

Like the title of the installation already suggests, the artist is mirroring the things, that are touching her, in her paintings. That way she also holds up a mirror to the beholders.

"I find art interesting that is trying to catch the nowness - the life. It doesn't always work or it's sometimes just an attempt to catch it."

Thanks for watching!

P.S.: All photos taken with my Canon Rebel T5i by myself.

Thanks to share! Very expressive artwork! (;

You're welcome, thanks for your feedback!

This is some controversial art. I like the idea very much, I'm not sure if I like the art itself, but that is personal taste. I for instance like the controversial way of Banksy, so no issue with some controverse :)

Thanks for commenting. I agree, that art must be controverse sometimes. I also like Bansky ;-)

I really like this one from him (well them)...

Did you know that the likelihood is very high that the guys from the band Massive Attack is Banksy?

One of my favourite albums of this group here Dark as Banksy is :)

I guess I've heard some rumours about that before, but I have no idea, if there is any substance behind it. Really want to visit Banskys Dismaland sometimes.
I know Mezzanine very well, used to listen a lot to it ;-)

Cool you like Massive Attack as well!

Only rumours and 1+1 = something I suppose around Massive Attack and Banksy; These started since Banksy art showed several times at cities where Massive Attack had their performance. But it could be coincidence.

Yes! Massive Attack killed some audio-speakers back in the days. Their base was outstanding. Maybe Bansky is just one of their roadies ;-)

That is what I was saying, recently I had a long debate with a friend from the UK about this rumours. He believes it is absolutely true. I used the same argument, a roadie, a groupie or fan.

At first i was thinking why would you put an nsfw tag on it, but reading on it got more and more "violent" :) But for some reason this kind of violence in this artwork does not disturb me at all. I would love to know what she was thinking when doing it...

These paintings are really interesting! It captivates me

Thanks, glad you were watching!

My pleasure

No words to say about these paintings.

Because you dislike the art or because it's not your cup of tea?
