Sublime Sunday: Lobster Season On PEI
#SublimeSunday has rolled around again. It’s a tag presenting you with the unique opportunity to post something a bit different, wacky, crazy or just whatever takes your fancy and instigated by @c0ff33a ☕️.
My Sublime Sunday takes you down to the Montague Harbour to see the Lobster boats all set to start the lobster season with the setting of the traps.
The first day is called ‘Setting Day.’

Lobster Fishing will start in a few days and the fishermen are getting ready, lining up their lobster traps and buoys to set in the ocean.
All the traps and buoys on the wharf have to be transferred to lobster boats in preparation for setting day. The captain of each boat must have his crew and bait ready.
To distinguish what traps belongs to each fisherman, the buoys are a different color.
Montague is only one harbor of many harbours on Prince Edward Island used by fishermen.
The fishery on Prince Edward Island is regulated by the Federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans. There is strict regulations of licenses, fishing seasons, and quotas.
Looking down the river. There is a curve and I wasn’t able to capture the lineup of lobster boats ahead.
This time of year lobster boats can be seen being hauled down the highways to the local wharfs. There will be trucks and trailers loaded with lobster traps making their way to the harbour to be readied for ‘Setting Day’.
The lobster season on PEI usually begins around May 1st if the conditions are right.
The folks around here are anxiously waiting for a good feed of fresh lobster. PEI lobsters are known as the finest in the world.

Fantastic photos! And how wonderful to get to see this slice of life that I would otherwise never see. I love lobster. I just saw yesterday that a local restaurant has PEI mussels on their menu.

Forget Jo about the 4 seasons of the year, in my book, your Lobster Season would be the one I would be hanging out for. I simply love Lobsters and my mouth is watering just reading your post. lol. Have one for me.
Hi Trudee! It won’t be long and a good feed of lobster will be had. Once the season starts, lots of lobster suppers around the Island.
Dang it! Now I want lobster! Dinner will feel so sad now...
Haha, @goat-girlz, I’m sure your dinner will be great. Sorry about no lobster.
Nice Montague Harbour of the buoys and the lobster boats photography.
Thanks @kamrunnahar. Appreciate your lovely comments. 😊
Lobster season, cool. Not something I know anything about living in the midwest. It's nice to see and learn about things in different parts of the country. Good post!
Thanks @blueeyes8960. Happy there was something new to you in my post. 😊
howdy there redheadpei! do you guys eat lobster? It's kind of expensive ain't it?
Mornin’ @janton. Once in awhile. I also enjoy a lobster sandwich with mayo. Yes, they are not cheap.
howdy today redheadpei! I've never had a lobster sandwich. In fact I've never heard of one until now! lol.
Quite a nautical feel to this weeks post, I never realised the fisherman claimed their lobster pots by bouy colour so thank you for sharing that.
You got some perfect Harbour shots as well, my favourite is the last one with all the fishing boats lined up.

Thanks so much Rob. Glad you liked the photo and also found out something new. 😊
The ‘setting day’ has been delayed for a few days because of wind. Maybe tomorrow will be alright.
