🙌🏽Sublime Sunday🙌🏽 An excuse to post your random, creative or crazy ideas by @c0ff33a ☕️ - Old Town Cham in Iran

This is a throw back from my trip to Iran. We traveled the length and breadth of the country and I must say that Iran is one of the most beautiful places that I have come across. It is so much diversified in terms of it's landscapes. During our travel we visited this small local village Cham in the Yazd province. The curosity for us to visit this place was, it is a village filled with Zoroastrian people, and I am a Zoroastrian by religion. Zoroastrianism was born in Iran and later was invaded by Islam, there was a lot of forced conversion that had happened, but many fled away from Iran to save their religion. One part of the group arrived to India and from there on settled in India and the religion started flourishing in India. There is a very interesting story of how they smoothly integrated in the Indian culture, you can google and read the history of it, very interesting. In today's time Zoroastrian religion is one of the smallest with only around a lakh across the globe. It is also one of the oldest one with it's roots from the 6th century.
Being a Zoroastrian it was always my wish to travel my Motherland some day and thankfully I got the opportunity, so I made the most of it.

This village of Cham is very interesting, you would feel you have gone back in time to the stone age. The houses here are still very very traditional from the olden days and even the lifestyle of the people here is quite primitive. You cannot believe that something like this still exist in the world of skyscrapers and hi-tech gadgets. There is a cypress tree here which is around 3,000 years old.

This is how the village Cham looks like, they look like mud houses but they are made of bricks.

The village houses. I felt they must be very weak structures but on speaking with the local I understand that these houses are some 100 years old and still going strong. It was unbelievable for me.

These houses look a little better in terms of the finishing.

Can you guess what is this? It is the Air Conditioning system of the olden times. We checked with them, these systems are not being used now as they have been replaced by fans and normal A/Cs but in the olden times they had this, where the water was filled up in the storage spaces in it and then with the cross ventilation system they would have cool temperature in the home.

These people as such are not backward, they do have the modern amenities, but yes they way of living is still very traditional and from the olden days.

I loved these doors. All the doors of the houses were unique with different designs.

The Temple that we visited. The local people opened it up for us.

It was a wonderful time spent in this place. Felt like I was transported back in time, and everything that we have now felt so unreal. It was like connecting with the roots. Also when you visit this place you will realize that how far we have come.

I hope you all enjoyed this journey of the Cham village.

Those buildings are amazing, almost like they are made from sand with the colour. It’s a testament to how well they were built they are still going strong after over 100 years!
