Canada passed a law Thursday making it illegal to use the wrong gender pronouns. Critics say that Canadians who do not subscribe to progressive gender theory could be accused of hate crimes, jailed, fined, and made to take anti-bias training.

Ya, this is insanity. Jordan Peterson has been fighting this up there. He is a very smart guy and if you haven't already you should listen to him explain a lot of this stuff on the Joe Rogan podcast.

Here is the actual bill in question. Unsurprisingly, people are kind of taking a hyperbolic view of what it actually does. It adds gender identity and expression to the list of grounds for discrimination in Canada's existing civil rights legislation. Are you discriminating against someone if you misgender them? Is misgendering hate speech? The bill doesn't touch on either of those questions, and I think it would be a tough case for prosecutors to win in court, especially if it couldn't be proven the misgendering was intentional.
That being said, yes, yes, legislation bad. But those against it don't make themselves look good when they exaggerate what it actually does.

we are so polite in Canada we don't want to offend anyone - just watch our PM Justin Trudeau make nice with Trump when they're opposite on most issues. But at least he doesn't offend by making politically incorrect statements. Hey, maybe Trump might....Naw!

Canada is a Monarchy. They have no 1st Amendment.
I think this is great, actually. Not so great for Canadians, but great for everybody else, because it shows just what the toxic liberal agenda is. If anyone is ever actually prosecuted for using a pronoun, the backlash will be biblical.
