Here is the actual bill in question. Unsurprisingly, people are kind of taking a hyperbolic view of what it actually does. It adds gender identity and expression to the list of grounds for discrimination in Canada's existing civil rights legislation. Are you discriminating against someone if you misgender them? Is misgendering hate speech? The bill doesn't touch on either of those questions, and I think it would be a tough case for prosecutors to win in court, especially if it couldn't be proven the misgendering was intentional.

That being said, yes, yes, legislation bad. But those against it don't make themselves look good when they exaggerate what it actually does.
