Photo Journal 177: Hidden away

There’s a certain amount of fascination to be taken from the seemingly mundane. On the surface this shot may look somewhat void of life with its pale colour palette and lack of subject. On the contrary, I see something a little more interesting.

I have a fascination with windows. From the inside the are but a means to show the outside environment and let light in, but from the outside they are picture frames to people’s lives. Even with the blinds closed a story is presented.

The crushed blinds could be the sign of a hoarder piling the room full of papers, enough to press against the pane. Maybe a fiery altercation ended in the compression of the blades. Maybe a steamy embrace was a sheet of metal away from full-on display. Well probably never know, but that’s half the draw.
