Photo Journal 136: Point of Focus
Cropping can be an important tool to bend the rules and try something different. This shot was taken quickly and, as a happy accident, created this interesting crop where the subject lies outside the lines of the rule of thirds.
The interest comes from the guy’s mysterious attention of focus, and accentuated by the more neutral expanse of the stone background. I’m pleased with this happy accident (especially the red cord 👌).

I’ve heard of the rule, but sometimes you get even cooler shots when you choose to bend them. I agree, I like seeing him at the side like that.
