In this opportunity I come to tell you the story of some animated characters recognized worldwide. Like me, many of us grew up watching the Ninja Turtles, a comic book that became a TV show and years later ascended to the big screen.

But, have you ever wondered where their names came from? Well, before we explain each of their names, let's review a little bit about their history according to their original creators:

We are located in Japan where the "Clan of the Foot" lives, and where an apprentice named Yoshi learns the moves to become a great Ninja like his mascot who is a rat, this warrior becomes the strongest of the clan although he has a rival named Nagui who follows in his footsteps, the two fall in love with a girl, but this only corresponds to Yoshi. One day Yoshi finds Nagui beating the girl and confronts him to death, after which Yoshi is expelled from the Clan for having killed one of his companions, he flees to North America with his beloved. On the other hand Nagui has a brother named Oroku Saki who swears revenge for his brother's death and intends to train hard to be a great Ninja.

Later the Clan of the Foot sends Oroku Saki to North America who takes the name of Shredder "The Destroyer" and uses the clan for his revenge, killing Yoshi and his beloved. But the rat manages to escape and is forced to live in the streets. Until one day a container of radioactive material collides with a child's fish tank containing four baby turtles, which are going into a sewer and there the Yoshi rat finds them. As the turtles grow older they learn to talk and one of them calls the rat Splinter and he teaches them Ninjutsu.

This way we get to the part where we get to know the name of these Ninja Turtles. These names come from Renaissance artists and are all Italian, hence their taste for pizza.

The first of them is called Leonardo or "Leo" the leader of the group his mask is blue and his weapon is the Katana, comes from the famous author Leonardo da Vinci, born in 1452 and died in 1519. Leonardo was a painter from the city of Florence, he was also an anatomist, architect, artist, botanist, scientist, writer, sculptor, philosopher, engineer, inventor, musician, poet and town planner.

The second is Donatello, he is the most intelligent of the group, his mask is purple or purple and his weapon is Bō, his name comes from the artist Donato di Niccolò di Betto Bardi was born in Florence Italy 1386 and died in 1466. Donatello was a painter and a renowned author capable of capturing the depth and relief monumentally.

The third is "Rafa" is the misunderstood one of the group thanks to his terrible temperament, his mask is red and his weapon is two Sais. Its name comes from the painter Raffaello Sanzio, born in 1483 and died in 1520. He was a painter and architect of the High Renaissance, and made important contributions to architecture and as an antiquities inspector.

And finally there's "Miguel Angel", he's the joker and funniest of the group, his mask is orange and his weapon is the Nunchakus or "Chacos" (He's the one who says "Cowabonga", the famous phrase of the Ninja Turtles). Its name comes from the painter Michelangelo Buonarroti, born in 1475 and died in 1564. Not only a painter but also an architect and sculptor, considered one of the greatest artists in history for his sculptures, paintings and architectural work.

It is also a reference to Giovanni di Ser Giovanni (1406-1486), a painter from Florence known as "Scheggia", ("splinter" in Spanish, "splinter" in English) who was also a goldsmith, cabinetmaker and doctor.
