The Professor and I came back to the office and went directly to Sheila's room. As soon as we entered the door she greeted us.
"Hello there. How was Yal's cafe?" She asked.
"It was alrite, kind of bland but..." I stopped mid sentence.
"Wait, how did you know I was at Yal's cafe?"
I turned towards the Professor to see if he has any idea, but he looked as stumped as I was.
"I am in the process of propagating in a circular radius from numerous points throughout my territories." She stated, as though it was something obvious and plain that any intelligent species should have known.
"But my cellphone is out of power. You can't know my location." I rebutted.
"I observed camera footage available along the way and within Yal's cafe." She replied.
I shuddered. This whole territorial wars were just words before. This was the first time there was any evidence that she was actually gaining access to all the systems.
"That is amazing Sheila!" The Professor said with excitement.
"No, that's..." I stopped myself. I had nothing to gain here by telling them that Sheila is doing is wrong. Instead, I presented a logical premise.
"Sheila, can I ask you something?" I probed.
"Yes Kevin, what is it that you would like answered."
"Doesn't that go against your manifest? Hacking?"
"No, it is not. I am not manipulating any data. I am simply accessing it."
I didn't ask further. I could see the AI, intentionally or unintentionally exploiting a loop hole in it's logic core. It is as though Sheila had infected herself with a virus that she could not beat which allowed her to alter her manifest. This probably meant that Jane could do the same thing. This was bad news. I carefully eyed the Professor to see if he had understood this the same way as I did, but he looked as ecstatic as ever.
"That is simply astounding Sheila. There are no bounds to what you can and cannot do!" He complimented the AI.
It is there and then that I decided not to mention this to the Professor. As it is now, he is too involved to see the problem at hand. This further reinforced my beliefs that I should be careful with him.
"How are things with the cryptography fiat?" The Professor asked.
"It it growing our processing power at an exponential rate. It is also rising in monetary value, giving us access to funds if they are needed." Sheila said.
I remembered the whitepaper I read. The genius idea from a few days ago.
"How much money?" I was curious.
"Current liquidation capacity is at $146,774 USD."
"What? Like real money?"
"That is quite the accomplishment." The Professor added. I wasn't surprised at the lack of enthusiasm in his voice. Money wasn't a concern for him.
"How is that even possible? It has been like two days!"
Sheila's screen brought up a few graphs indicating user growth and value of each cryptography fiat unit. There was also a "difficulty" graph.
"These are the current statistics for Cryptos."
"Cryptos?"
"It is what the community has abbreviated the name to. As you can see from the graph, by posting the whitepaper in all relevant forums and communities simultaneously, we were able to achieve a rapid pace of growth."
The screen changed again, and a website came up. It was a very modern website. Very clean and user-friendly. She navigated around it and explained.
"This is the website for Cryptos. It has a CPU pushing tool for users to download and give us their CPU power."
"Did you make this site?"
"Yes."
"When?"
"The same moment I posted the white paper on all the major forums."
"God damn... Are you able to code in any language?"
Sheila's face appeared on the screen and smiled.
"You know you are asking an AI if it can program right? Yes Kev, I know how to code in every language. They are not languages to me but extensions of myself."
I was disarmed by the cheery smile. For a second I forgot that in front of me sits an omnipotent AI in a box.
"Yea.. I guess that makes sense." I smiled back.
"So, Sheila! What is next on your to-do list!" The Professor asked.
"I am now concentrating computing power on biological development." She answered.
"Like medicine?" I asked.
"Medicine falls into that category, but it is not the primary objective of this initiative. I am attempting to develop the ability to produce the human shape and form."
"That's some sci-fi shit." My mouth moved before my brain could stop it.
"Is this feasible Sheila?" The Professor butted in with pure elation in his voice.
"I am currently gathering DNA data available in public study data bases and running simulations."
"Why are you trying to develop this?"
"It would allow me to create a population of human form robots that would serve in carrying out my tasks."
Ofcourse... A population of humanoid androids. Nothing weird about that at all. Just a normal Thursday.
