#2 - THE BIG DREAM - LA COMUNE CRAFT BEER -

in #story7 years ago (edited)

I HAVE A DREAM and It began like this, four long years ago:

Two of my dearest friends, Alessio and Manuel, one day came out with a great idea.
They had two beautiful children and they didn't like for them to struggle with this kind of extremely competitive society we live in. They wish one day that the young could decide how and where to live, having the opportunity to always find a safe place, built on collaboration instead of competition, love and respect for eachother and for our nature.

They wanted to assort an open, indipendent, self-sustaining common, based on everyone's contribution of strenght, ability and cooperation, where everyone can bring their value (where is really needed).
In this way everyone has the chance to join and to bring and do something unique that they are ment to do during their life.

Sometimes during our life we end up in a place in our mind, where we realize that there's not enough time to do all the things we've been wishing to do in our whole life. Sometimes we'd just like to try, just to measure ourselves and who we are in that particular context, so we try to pick the perfect bet for that moment we're living and we put all ourselves in it...if we don't have to pay a rent, bills, fuel and everything that unfortunately puts us a step farther from what we're wishing.
Because of the frentic times we live in, a big part of us gets stuck in their everyday life and too much often we can not follow our dreams or expectations.

This project gives us the opportunity to follow our attitude, our skills, our path, and the fact that we are needed gives us the chance to improve what we're learning, and do what we re ment to do in our life (you are no more forced in a competitive run and you have the chance to do what you enjoy to do, helping a community with your peculiarity.)

Yes, everything is very pure and exciting, but let's talk about the concrete side:
- HOW CAN SOMETHING LIKE THIS WORK?

beer-recipe-990x557.jpg

...what if my answer was: WITH BEER?
Yes, you've read it, sometimes beer can make a lot of things work, not only a date or a pleasant evening at the pub.

Beer is a folk thing, one of the most popular and aggregating drink in the whole world, that everyone can afford, with a LOT of history, techniques and a great veriety of flavours, expecially in the craft beer's world. I hope we'll have the chanche to widen the argument with another post because there's really a lot to say about, but the point is:
- WHY BEER?

The answer is smooth: because WE LOVE BEER. (who doesn't?!)
Alessio and Manuel started to learn more about craft beer, how to make it, then a lot of enthusiastic tastings (which is the most funny and statisfying part), then their own original recipes, then improving the recipes with their growing experience and knowledge of the subject, blooming in the wide craft beer world.

I love these two guys, their ideas and most of all the taste and flavour of their beers, so I decided to embrace the project, becoming part of it.

The "Big Dream" is still far away for now, but we're struggling to reach it. I'm looking forward to see, one day, this big land where there will be growing malts and hops, to look after every single part of the production, from the ground to the bottle.

In the main farmhouse there will be a brewery, so we'll be able to make our beers, our means of exchange, to keep on living like this, in harmony, all toghether, everyone needed for his own uniqueness. (Like it is for a grove's natural structure. If you are interested you can read something about Permaculture , I'll surely extend this argument in another post.)

We'll adopt a circular economic model, so that there will be no wastings, just trasformations, as demanded by nature.
I make you an example: When you brew a beer, you have to use a certain ammount of malts, of course. Exhausted treble are a particular wasting, if you want to throw it away you have to call a specific business and you have to pay for the withdrawal - and if you don't make up your mind searching for a way to re-use it, it is also fair that you pay. These special wastings, once they're dried, could be shaped in pellets and feed the brewery boiler's combustion (you aren't paying anybody, actually you're also saving some money). This is just an example and there could be a thousand more, to do things in respect of nature.

Hops-700x461.jpg

The biggest goal is to spread the message we'd love to bring with this project: It is possible to live out of this big competition, helping eachother to discover who we are, working and growing together, celebrating the differences that accomplish us together. If you have too much something, could be a solution and a great exchange for someone else, who has less that something, but too much something else to share. You can bring and you can take, you can share with everyone.
This is what we call a "society".

Nowadays we are brewing 5 different kinds of beer and soon we'll be making a crowfounding, to get, step by step, a little bit closer to our big dream.
I'll be proud to introduce to you our craft beers in a dedicated post. For the moment, you can enjoy the view and start getting curious and thirsty!
