The Adventures of Mister Mox - Part 39
On the third day since Mox entered in the torture room, the door opened suddenly with a bang. A killing light flashed in Butcher’s eyes, but immediately vanished when he saw the man that entered.
The man was captain James Neihart, his benefactor and probably the only man in the whole Silver Guard that could keep Butcher under control.
“Captain James,” the killing eyes were replaced with a smile. “Welcome into my humble residence. What wind brings you here?”
“Butcher, cut the pleasantries. I don’t have time for that now. How is he? Can he talk?”
“Captain,” Butcher took a serious look on his face “what kind of lunatic did you send me?”
“First of all, I want to know that I wasn’t the one who made him like that. He is like this since day one” saying this, Butcher made a sign to the minions.
Big Wolf took a bucket of water and splashed the unconscious Mox on the wall. In the last three days, Tegway was removed from the wall and sent back to his cell and Mox took his place.
A crazy laughter filled in the room. Mox opened his eyes and started to laugh like madman. Ever since Butcher started to pay attention to Tegway, Mox became a madman, laughing and laughing, instead of being terrified of what it was done to him. He knew that James didn’t want him dead, so instead of giving in to pain, he decided to play a trick on his tormentors. What kind of torturer would stand at his victim laughter?
“It’s that time of the day?” Mox laughed, looking around the room. “Oh, Butcher we have guests. Give me some clothes, we don’t want to the captain to see me naked.”
“Cut him down,” James ordered, taking a seat at Butcher’s table. “Place him in that chair.*”
The minions had to help Mox walk. After three days of torture, even if his mental state was good, his body was in shambles. The Butcher knew his craft and he didn’t leave any place untouched.
“Now, mister Mox Moxley, why don’t we continue our conversation?” James said to Mox with a cold look in his eyes.
“Could I get a cup of wine first? And something to eat?” Mox replied with the same level of coldness.
The captain approved his request and the Butcher immediately complied. A plate of meat arrived in Mox’s face who started to dig in.
“It didn’t took you long to figure out who I really am” Mox praised James. “Well, I’m not surprised, you’re a Silver Guard captain, after all.”
“Hmpf! Why did you had to be a hard rock since you knew that I will find out eventually?”
“Because,” Mox replied, taking a gulp of wine “that’s the kind of man I am.”
James remained speechless for a second. He didn’t expect this kind of answer. But he regained his composure immediately.
“You know, because of your actions I have the possibility to hang you? And your friends as well!”
“I know.” Mox answered with his mouth full of meat. “But you won’t do it. At least not right now. You want to know about the painting right? How did you find out about it?"
“I am the one to ask the questions here.” James answered back. “And yes, I won’t kill you now. You have only 2 days more to answer my questions and maybe I can do something for you to save your life. In two days a Silver Guard major will arrive here.”
