An old tree deep-rooted in poisoned soil (Original Poem)
An old tree stands alone
bend towards the sun
growing into the grey sky.
A thick bark offers
protection.
Isolated -
Birds left long ago.
His faithful companion died
quietly in his arms.
No fire-red squirrel
passed his way since.
Deep-rooted in poisoned soil
and polluted water.
Despite the harm
his leaves still move
delicately with the wind.
Nature's fascinating design
fighting against decay
human's waste
is causing.
The environment is the first victim of pollution increases in air and water.

From trees we learn the patience to stand our ground, accepting and dealing with troubles as they arise. Let us not weep excessively over the fallen, but constructively move forward to ensure the renewal that is the promise of every Tree's existence.
Enjoyed, it makes me think of all the trees lost to acid rain along the PA Turnpike.
