With that passage from the journal, Hazel knew exactly what it was that had bothered her. She had known that the Throwback was searching her mind but she could not recognise the sensation. She also realised that when in the laboratory, she had known that it was going to attempt an escape and she had shaken her head ‘no’ to advise against such an action.

Was she then in tune with Throwbacks? Is that what the Prophecy had foretold? Was that the reason behind her rise to Sentinel Exemplar?

Hazel became contemplative then. She stopped reading for a while and went off deep into her own thoughts, trying to recall more on the Prophecy.

There were ‘forks’ in each chain of foretold events and she had made a choice in a number of the events which were directly linked to the future of all Wolfkind.

The first ‘fork’ that she knew of had happened before she was Wolfed properly but it was manipulated in order to fulfil the Prophecy. Did that make the Prophecy weaker or stronger?

There were so very many questions without answers. Hazel determined to sit Anton down for a week if necessary and grill him on what he knew; it was time for her to know all about her own birthright, her own Prophecy. It was time that she was given all the information on exactly how she was to “lead Wolfkind to a new and bloody era” – as the then Lycaeon had said.

The decision made to see this through to the end and then question Anton gave her a resolution to that particular problem and she continued with the Journal. A few minutes later, I saw a younger man. He was also a Werewolf and it was far easier to recognise him as such. Perhaps she is able to conceal herself? I shall be much more careful next time.
