GOOD NURSE. BAD NURSE
CH 3.

Chapter 1: How Not To Start Your Day
Chapter 2: Have Mercy

She wished she was not a witness to this on her very first day...but unfortunately, fate had her number this time.
Now she was in big trouble. Head Nurse Storm was not only a bad nurse, but she was also a corrupt nurse,
Dealing in something horrendously dangerous and illegal.
Now, nurse Annabelle Winter’s life was in danger...

2 hours before...

At 12:00pm, the hot dinner food came up from the hospital kitchen to the busy wards...

12:00pm - 12:45pm, she helped to feed the patients in bed, who were too sick to feed themselves.
One by one they were all fed... until fully finished.
Now, it was 1pm, her lunch-time break, and she felt hungry and thirsty from spending the whole morning following and assisting the kind Nurse Smith... in waking up the patients, to prepare them for the Doctor’s visit or for their important operation.

They changed bedsheets after bedsheets.

With Nurse Smith... pulling in front of her, the Locker Medical Cabinet...
Making sure that all the patients on the ward had gotten their right medicines before their breakfast came.

Annabelle sat down with the other nurse, in the big canteen eating her lunch.
30 min of peace, she thought.

She looked around her and saw Nurse Storm,
walking out with her dinner tray.

"She never eats together with us, or with the Doctors at the other end there,” a young nurse said, pointing to the other side. “She always eats upstairs in her office alone.”

“Oh,” Annabelle said, not really caring...

She knew after her break, Head Nurse Storm would be waiting for her.

Nurse Smith... had told her so.

She listened as they talked. Some of the nurses lowered their heads as they whispered amongst one another. She strained her ears to tune in and overheard

how many of the hospital’s patients, who were supposedly on the road to full recovery, have been strangely diagnosed with terrible infections that eventually killed them, shocking the medical staff and causing suspicious concern.

Annabelle couldn’t believe what she was hearing and felt compelled to find out more about this strange epidemic.

With ten minutes still leftover from her break, she had decided to look around the hospital before she has to meet with Head Nurse Storm in her office. She politely excused herself from her fellow nurses and made her way out of the canteen and down the corridor.

She heard from Nurse Smith that the tenth floor was still under construction and still being furnished, and that that was the original hospital with the older equipment from before. She got into the elevator and pressed the number 10 and began her acension up.

The elevator reached the tenth floor and chimed as the doors opened, and what she saw was like a completely different world.

The air was very dry and she could almost taste the dust as she stepped into the hallway. The whole corridor’s walls looked faded, old and dilapidated from another time. Even the windows were old and the wooden frames decaying.

She wondered how old exactly was this hospital. She forgot to look it up. But it was so surreal and amazing how the first to ninth floors were so modern, bright and new, and the tenth floor was so dull, eerie, left in its original state.

She walked around, looking and touching quietly until she heard in the near distance,

a muffled scream...

She crept forward towards the sound, her blood racing and on full alert. A door was cracked open just to her left up ahead and she glided closer to poke her head through the opening.

She was shocked to see Head Nurse Storm standing over a frightened, frail patient, who was strapped down, as Head Nurse Storm held up a long, syringe needle filled with God knows what.

She injected the patient violently, making soothing noises with a sinister tone. The middle-aged lady jerked for a moment and then fell back instantly on the bed. She struggled no more. Annabelle covered her mouth tightly, trying not to scream loudly. Then Nurse Storm, towering over the unconcious patient, said matter of factly,

“I don’t think you’ll be needing your organs anymore...”

Annabelle heard loud footsteps from behind her and knew she had to hide quickly before being discovered. Heart racing, she dashed into the opposite room, gently closing the door with much care.

She heard the footsteps walk into the room where Nurse Storm was, directly across from her, and a man happily whistling. “Well, well, you sure are a mighty fine nurse Miss Storm. You always pick the right patients to fill up our waiting list. People that no one would ever suspect.” Head Nurse Storm smiled, and said, "Only from experience my dear can you learn...It takes time...and patience...pun intended..." They both laughed together.

Nurse Annabelle had opened the door slightly, ear pressed to the crack and heard everything they had said.

Now everything made sense what the nurses back in the canteen were saying. Her biggest problem now was how to get out of there without being detected and ultimately without putting her life in danger...

Yes I worked hard to make it a thriller, in the hospital.
That’s why it took so long to write and edit.
I am very happy... Steemit is helping me to be a better writer 😉.
