The old man reached the top first, followed by Orvus a moment later. They both stared down the hallway that appeared at the top and they couldn't ignore the feeling which beckoned them to enter. “The stone is growing hot to the touch, Orvus,” said the old man. Orvus suggested he switch it to the other hand in the meantime, which the old man found helpful. “Shall we enter?” questioned Orvus, gesturing at the entrance. The two rolled up their sleeves and entered the hallway. It became apparent that the inside of the pyramid was not made of the same fluorescent stone as the rest of the place. “We need some light going forward,” suggested Orvus. “Let's see what the stone provides,” started the old man, as he concentrated and began to recite... “Sound of the Aegis, with your light shall I wield, a holy orb of guidance to which a safe path will yield.” Without hesitation, in the old man's right hand appeared a white orb of light. It was almost too bright to look at and was more than enough for the task.

Orvus was shocked. He had never seen magic which just summoned forth light alone. “Where did you learn such an enchantment?” Orvus questioned heavily at the old man, eager to know how it was made possible. “The stone... showed me it was possible. I just felt it, and knew it could be done,” smiled the old man. “Where did the words come from? What is the Aegis?” pressed Orvus. “I wish I had a better explanation. The stone provided the means and the enchantment,” the old man paused, “but I felt great power in the words.” The two continued down the hallway with the way well lit. Orvus was still astonished but pressed on through the flurry of thoughts bouncing around inside his mind.

“It seems we're inside now,” relayed the old man as they both exited the hallway into a room. The orb of white light lit up most of the room revealing a high ceiling. In the centre of the room inlaid in the ground was a large metal covering decorated with various bees, flowers, and vines with berries. The centre of the covering had a intricate symbol etched in it which was made up of many overlaid circles that all made a flower. “This symbol represents the flower of life,” Orvus exclaimed excitedly. “I read about it during my studies at the Verlys library long ago,” continued Orvus, “its' connection to the unseen energies of this world is regarded as sacred.”

The old man switched the stone back to his other hand, in an attempt to let his hand cool down. “How do you suppose we open it?” questioned the old man. Orvus pondered deeply for a second, “Try placing the stone on it.” The old man obliged but to no avail. Orvus had another idea, “Let me see the stone,” he said as he knelt down before the covering. The old man handed him the stone. Orvus touched the stone to the covering and began to trace something on its' surface. First he sketched an upright triangle, then a down-facing one which overlapped it. The path he traced illuminated itself along the way. Within the two triangles he had drawn a hexagon, and within that two more overlapping triangles which contained a circle. Finally he drew lines from the vertices of the hexagon to some of the vertices of the larger set of triangles, which formed the square bi-pyramid overlaid by a six-pointed star. The traced pathway had made Metatron's Cube, and the whole symbol glowed bright with a fierce light.

The two friends got to their feet and stood back a ways, not knowing what to expect. The magical orb of light called forth by the old man had dimmed due to his being disconnected from the stone for a short while. “I think that may have been enough,” said Orvus excitedly, as he handed the stone back to the old man. The orb of light returned to its' original brightness when he took the stone in hand. With the covering glowing bright along the traced lines of Metatron's Cube, the two watched in anticipation as it hissed at the seams and began to rise up out of the ground. Steam was pouring out from the spaces between the stone and metal as a large metallic cylinder rose up into the room. The cylinder came to a loud, sudden stop and the steam died down before ceasing all together.

Astonished and in awe, the two cautiously approached the cylinder. Their distorted reflections waved and warped in the magical light. The cylinder hissed once more and started to emit steam. The walls of the cylinder rotated clock-wise while the top rotated counter-clockwise until the two openings in each partition were aligned. A bright golden light from within had shone into the room, over-powering the meagre orb of magical light called forth by the old man. Through the brightness the two old friends could make out a figure of a person within. A hand grasped the doorway, and then a foot appeared, and out stepped a mighty tall woman with a fair complexion, dark hair, who was adorned in a brilliant set of golden armour. She entered the room and filled it with her light, looked over and down at the two of them and spoke in a soft, yet loud voice, “I am Merobaku, immortal servant of Sahk and defender of the Aegis. You two have my eternal thanks for releasing me.”
