RE: A Mildewy Incident In The Green House Days After The First Days of Snow
"...the label says "real chamomile." Made me wonder whether there actually is a fake chamomile?"
There is one, not a "fake", but more of a "faker", and the difference to the "real" thing is, it doesn't smell and doesn't have healing powers. It's called "Matricaria Inodora" and looks like this:
Real chamomile is called "Matricaria Chamomilla". They are related, both are Asteraceae.
Mildew is a very common problem. Funny enough, there is a "real" (powdery mildew) and a "fake" mildew (downy mildew), both of them attack the chamomile plant.
I might be a booksmart fellow who can tell you useless information about stuff, but a recipe against mildew I don't have. Sorry about that. I DO KNOW that ladybugs eat the stuff, so perhaps filling your greenhouse with them might help. This "tip" given without any guarantees! Who knows what else in your greenhouse they might develop an appetite for? :-)
At least, now you know what to google for:

thanks for reading!
ah .. that explains the label
they almost look the same don't they?
I think I've seen a lot of those fakers on the road?
as for having ladybugs, they don't seem to sell them here :(
probably against animal rights? but prefer it that way cause I also believe that we should let nature take its own course and by nature, lady bugs should be hiding elsewhere nowadays
as for googling solutions, I decided to ask cause sometimes it's better to get tips from someone who's already experienced it and proven their solution works but thanks for the links anyway!
