UNDER THE BRIDGE: chapter 1

The first time I met Tatum, I'd just stepped into the famous WEMCA facility for the criminally insane. A huge building stood before me after my escorts brought me out of their van. The last time I dared to peek out of the van's window, we were at a bridge, then the main gate. That seemed like an hour ago.

I wondered how big this whole place was. How far between this site and the gate. I didn't peek again until the van stopped, didn't see the road.

We met a large albino guard who took us to a large garage door that opened inwards with a loud noise then shifted left after he placed a hand in some box attached to the wall. Before we went inside I noticed a very tall tower far off, I couldn't think of any means for it at this time. After scaling through three maximum security pods, we reached a complex and it was here the unit manager, a bald sweaty burnt-faced fellow joined us. He led us to a steel door, unlocked it.

We entered a large dining hall where all the inmates were sandwiched at one side watching the man whom I later came to know as Tatum indulge in a mighty brawl with an eight foot plus monstrosity having ears as big as my palm- I also later got to know the monster as Mamo.
Tatum was a probable six like me, and had just lost an incisor.

I saw it myself, as the Mamo gifted him a neck snapping airbag to the jaw when we entered the opened door. The loose tooth must have acquired enough energy from that milestone as it flung itself in the perpendicular direction where I was, made a bloody dimple in my slightly turned left cheek. Our eyes locked as he staggered gropingly and he winked, adding a dramaturgic effect to the whole setup.
Everything ended in a flash when Tatum made a startling jump kick in the air, propelling his torso just behind and beyond his irritated opponent's frame, grabbing his neck in the means. I heard a snap as the Mamo's neck landed and rolled off Tatum's shoulder. In an instant, the room was flooded with guards rushing to lead inmates out of the dining hall through a large corridor opposite us.
A lanky doctor who looked exactly the way I was in my technical school days; the narrow face, trimmed moustache, firmly set mouth crowned with a low hair cut and of course the lanky frame - that hasn't altered yet - which was why I got nicknamed 'Lanky', examined Mamo. Since I no longer kept a moustache, I bestowed the doc my nickname.
It took five guards to finally carry Mamo out through the same door I entered from, and I wondered where they took them to after they became entirely motionless like that. I was making the sign of Crucifix after murmuring a short prayer, when a voice uttered behind me, saying,

"He's as tough as a nail, I'm sure he'll be back next week."

This is going to be a regular feature on my blog, so watch out everyday for new chapters..cheers.

You write well, really well. I loved your writing impact entry. I wonder if you would have seen a more encouraging result here if you hadn't used the writing impact tag. Specific tags for contests are usually reserved for entries only, and are otherwise discouraged.
I hope you continue, and use a tag like writing instead, and save the specific tag for your next entry. Which I am following and looking forward to reading.
The lines
If i had a gun, i'll shoot a movie
If i were a thunder, i'll strike a deal,

remind me of Michael franti lyrics. I'm a fan.

Thanks for the piece of advice and recomendation, i am so elated i will make use of the tags in the next chapter, as a matter of fact it should be dropping anytime from now..
As a minnow it is mostly difficult to get the right tag.
