The Seg-Fleet. A Robotic Police Unit - Short Story Original Fiction
The Seg-Fleet
Amy proceeds about her day in a normal fashion, minding her own business. Amy is a quiet girl who wouldn't kill a fly, let alone harm a hair on your head. At 2pm, Amy is heading down to check her mail when she hears an all too familiar sound, echoing from off into the distance & catching her attention as it gets closer in proximity. Amy turns her head. Yep, as suspected, a "seg-fleet", as they are called, consistent of a fleet of 5 fully armed robotic "police" ride in on their segways.
The government even let's them carry automatic assault weapons. Claiming that, these robotic police are better at making snap judgement calls with use of an automatic weapon due to their lack of emotional vulnerability.
This robotic unit at first seems to be on an ordinary police patrol route until the unit pulls into Amy's driveway. They all stop in unison and the electric- like hum of their presence is muted.
As is usual if the robotic police are having a "discussion", they just seem blank and motionless. In all reality, they don't blend in well with humans. They only talk as a normal human would if they are talking to a human . Otherwise these 5 "man" units behave in an almost hive like manner.
Meanwhile, human police are being laid off. These robots don't need health insurance, retirement accounts, and the maintenance has become very affordable for city and local government. In fact, most repairs are done by the robots themselves.
These robots have stopped in Amy's driveway as they have scanned her vehicle and found her city scanner (which identifies her as a citizen of the city) is expired.
One lone robotic police officer segways up to Amy.
"Citizen, I am issuing you a citation in accordance with city law for all citizens to maintain up to date city vehicular scanners."
Amy hears a soft ding alert and a holographic image showing the citation amount of $300 shows up on Amy's smart phone. Amy kicks the ground in anger. She was only a day late.
"Citizen, your actions could be perceived as antagonostic to our unit."
(The segfleet all touch their weapons in unison to make a point.)
This is what it has boiled down to. Everyday citizens being bullied by robotic police officers. The year is 2022 & the rise of the robots is just beginning.

Love the idea! My dystopian future was decidedly more human, but in a way a robotic fleet of law enforcers is worse. You should stop by the Writer's Block some time. You've got a great head on your shoulders for fiction, and I would love to to help you really work on your style and knock it out of the park :D
Wow, I really appreciate that. Do you have a discord handle? If So I will hit you up! I plan to do more in this series So stay tuned =)
Same as on here: @anarcho-andrei :)
Great! Well, you know what, I am on there now! (The Writer's block)
😁
Working on another installment of this robotic dystopian (largely dystpn) future.. So i shall need to pick your brains sooner rather than later. Okay, i wont actually pick them
