Descriptions on the Spot: Prompts for 11/28 - 12/5steemCreated with Sketch.

in #story8 years ago

So we've had our first week back! Sadly, there weren't any posts made for the group, but this week is a new week. I know with National Novel Writing Month going on, a lot of authors have dedicated their time and effort to that particular bit of work, but as it winds down, I hope we get some more entries!

#### Carry-over prompts from [last week's post](https://steemit.com/story/@anarcho-andrei/descriptions-on-the-spot-for-11-19-11-26-we-re-back): - Penumbra -------------------------

How It Works:

Descriptions on the Spot will feature writing prompts in the form of words or pictures on a rotating basis. Prompts that aren't used from one week will be rotated out to the next week for reuse. If we get a whole ton of them hanging on over time, we'll clear them out and start fresh, but I don't see that being a problem.

Leaving Suggestions

Leave a comment with either a word or phrase for authors to use as inspiration for a short fiction piece. It can be any length; whatever inspires you to create a story, we suggest you run with it! As for what words to put up, the sky is the limit, but I would ask that you restrict the length of phrases to only a few words (running out of fuel, full speed ahead, etc.). Just enough to get the creative juices pumping, so to speak.

If you're a photographer or artist and want to let others use your art as inspiration, tag your post with #descriptionsonthespot and leave a link to it in the comments section.

Submitting Your Work

If you're an author and you've decided to take one of the word suggestions as inspiration for a story, make sure to title your piece with Descriptions on the Spot: (word or phrase). If you've decided to do a story based on a tagged photo or piece of art, make sure to title your piece with Descriptions on the Spot: Photo Bounty and tag the original artist in an introduction. If you want an example for each of these, check out the stories I linked in the intro to this post.

Once you have your article written, come back to the original comment that inspired you and reply with a link to your story!

Goal

As always, Descriptions on the Spot is about encouraging and fostering creative writing talent. We're here to build a community, so encouragement of people and constructive criticism (so long as it remains constructive and not condescending or arbitrary) are always welcome! If you read a story that you liked, reply to the author and let him or her know what you thought.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with. Once again, my sincerest thanks to @jedau, @complexring, and everyone else who has contributed to the project in the past to help build this community! If you want to catch up with us on Steemit.chat, join the #descriptiononthespot room! Best of luck, and we look forward to reading what you guys have to write!

Hey, @anarcho-andrei! Thanks for picking up the slack! Admittedly, I have been very preoccupied with NaNoWriMo and other real life stuff. It's awesome that you've resuscitated the initiative. Thanks for keeping me in mind, I really appreciate it! :) Being scrubbed from the record books is something that happens far too often for me, so it's nice whenever credit remains intact. I couldn't think of a better flagbearer than you, man.

Interest has waned a bit for this, so maybe we could powwow about improvements some time soon. Shake things up, and whatnot. We could also explore merging with other Steemit literary groups to form a unified group that would serve as the hub for literature on Steemit.

It is a pleasure to keep it going. I spoke to @complexring the other day, but I know you guys have been very busy. I have been as well, but since I had a little extra time, I figured I'd bring back one f the things that made Steemit great for me when I came here. :)

Absolutely! Hit me up on Steemit.chat when you get a chance. I can send you my email address if you'd like to keep in touch that way, or my Skype.

Definitely, brother. I'll message you there as soon as my schedule frees up. Pretty turbulent these days.

Most photos in my blog have tag #descriptionsonthespot
You are welcome to use it for your stories anytime you want 🙂

Not much I can come up with for your recent boat entry, but I'm waiting on the next one to see what I can do with it :)
